  • Coiling Dragon was one of my first webnovels, thankfully. I think if I read it after reading ISSTH, I'd not have enjoyed it half as much. It has plot issues, like a lot of them.

Desolate Era is great but also - bland. The comedic element that ISSTH added to webnovels is completely missing.

Other than cultivating and powering up, there is almost no other dimension to the story. That makes it feel a bit lacking.

Still well worth the read, considering there aren't too many other completely translated novels out there.

  • I didn't read a single chapter in, like 2-3 weeks, while I was busy with other stuff. Yet I collected the free SS daily (check in and vote only) so I had like 300+ stones. It was gone in seconds. Some novels are ridiculously "expensive".

I won't buy SS. It's too expensive, and the investment not rewarded at all - if you stop putting in money you are back to square one with all the other freeloaders.

I'd be fine to pay for a novel. I'd drop $10 on Library Heaven's Path, if that meant I could read chapters as they are released, and get a complete ebook download once the translation is complete. But that's not how the business model works, it relies on few rich or addicted people, spending a fortune.

    • Like One Piece, hmmm. That is a difficult one.

Luffy is the main character and the guy who has to save the day in the end, he's the most powerful one. At the same time he's a complete moron, like how he drowns a lot, or only thinks about eating, has zero clue about navigation, etc. This is important to the One Piece story because if Luffy was a genius, he'd not need his friends after all.

It is fun to watch a powerful idiot in a manga/anime, but "idiot MCs" usually do not work well in a novel at all. After all, a novel usually shows us a lot about what characters are actually thinking, and in One Piece you can't tell anything at all, Luffy is acting by pure instinct most of the time.

So what makes One Piece work in a manga / anime, is very very difficult to pull off in a written novel. I currently can't think of one.

"Release that Witch" would be a candidate, which has a MC incapable of doing magic, and he has to depend on witches (which he rescued or otherwise helped) so that kind of puts a lot of focus on his harem, but... he's still the sole powerhorse as he brings technological knowledge and scientific methods. And in the end he does learn magic regardless after all.

      • Still no mail, gave up, new account with yahoo address, which now receives mail instantly. Was able to recover my reading progress thanks to a screenshot I took of the library page. I shall make that a habit, in case it happens again.

thanks to all who tried to help

        • Used to be I had to re login every day and every time I closed the browser too. Worked like that, for plain email accounts anyway.

Then there was a (very good!) change and it would remember my session, for like a week now. And then up comes the Webnovel Guard saying "it's been some time" but I've been here yesterday.

          but OK then
          let's just wait

        • I can't login anymore. Using a regular Email account, not Facebook/Google...

We see you’re signing in to webnovel from a new device or a new computer. Or maybe it’s just been a while…

As an added account security measure, you’ll need to grant access to this browser by entering the special code we’ve just sent to your email address at ******

          [ Code ]
          [ Confirm ]
          [ Resend Email ]

The email address shown is the correct one. Unfortunately, no email arrives. [Resend Email] shows a confirmation sign but still no email at all. My address receives mail fine from other senders.

          • I read webnovels because they are free. Webnovels are popular because they are free. I can ignore translation errors, typos, mixed up names, never ending incomplete story, low quality in general etc. because it is free.

For payment, I prefer a finished, polished, complete ebook I can read offline on Kindle. It doesn't have to be sold on Amazon, I'm happy to buy a epub/mobi file on this or any other platform (avoid amazon fees). Something I paid for stays with me forever, even if the website no longer exists.

For stories I really like, I would be willing to pre-order the ebook (to be available as download when the translation is complete - good faith offer incomplete downloads until then). In an ebook series it should at least cover a major arc per installment. Of course the price should be fair as well (can't spend hundreds dollars on a single story, can't spend money I don't have).

I understand this clashes with your business model (people need to visit the site, watch ads, and be enticed to spend $ per chapter, even if that adds up to a scary cost [price of single chapter * total chapters left in the story]). So it probably won't be happening.

I will read here as long as it's possible to do so.

            • No, I'm using plain regular email. It works, just would be nice if I didn't have to re-login several times per day.

            • I'm using email login. Is there any way to make the site remember the login? Currently I have to re-login every time I close my browser.
