But in the end, as a writer you have to figure out how to write 2+ characters that have enough character to make readers go "I can relate, even if I want to stab the damn characters" then make them relate to the type of love or romance you are writing (or just write really damn good so everyone can atleast say its well written).

For reference, I didnt read crap on either link, im just giving a copout reply cause I need to go and didnt want to say nothing!

I'm a bit late on this but here's what I feel.

This genre, i think, is about connecting two or more individuals with each other through various things: little everyday details showing that they're each constantly thinking of one another. The harmonious conversations, the discords, their developments

Too hard to imagine? Look at it this way, you only notice things when they're gone. If one side was to die, why would the other side cry? What sorts of things would the living partner think of? What would trigger them to make them cry? It's the small details: The argument they had about the toilet seat being up or down, the way he spoon feed her meatballs, the way the grass feels on their feet in the middle of the night as they snuck away from the theaters, the way he pack her favorite colors straw in her meal. All the small details. The stupid things, the wonderful things. The build up, the breakdown, the thoughtfulness, the break ups, the insensitive actions, the tragedy, the wooing.

        It's... not suppose to.... :S

I'm glad it helped Scarlettbunny. If it's anything, I love the interaction between two characters, Kvothe and Denna in The Name of the Wind.

I also enjoyed watching a short (no speaking) 13-min animation called The House of Small Cubes. It's about an old man who took a trip down memory lane. Look for the small details there.

I just don't understand why a lot of romance books have girls fall for the bad boy type. Why are girls so blind to the guys who really care about them?

Panqiuyan eh, I am a woman and don’t understand that myself. Personally, I prefer the kind, gentle type. I typically root for the one who isn’t abusive and who would actually be good for the MC. Β―_(ツ)_/Β―

Nice is nice. Sweet is sweet. Without prior intimacy built up, it's just a heartwarming gesture. Like drinking hot chocolate by the hearth of your fireplace. It's nice, sweet, and warm. Heartwarming only goes so far so fast if you're not that close. Having hot chocolate by the hearth of your friends is different from having hot chocolate by the fireplace at the bar (comparison purposes only)

However, something that causes your heart to pump faster, something to trigger your emotions, will affect you more strongly. A 'bad boy' daring you to step out of your boundaries. Jim making you feel jealous and angry, then coming back to sweet talk to you. You'll feel alive. You'll feel in ways you never before. Adrenaline would be kicking in. You'd be on an emotional roller coaster.

Tell me, which do you prefer? Now tell me, which do you keep going back to, no matter the weather, rain or shine? Does it make sense in this context?

Of course, this is just a simplified comparison, but I hope you understand a bit more about it Panqiuyan and Anra7777 .

                  Yikes. Jim = Him. Typo.

Nou Right, and I keep on going back to the nice, gentle guy. In fact, I married one. I personally do not understand why anyone would want to be with someone who keeps on inciting negative feelings in themselves... it’s the nice, gentle guy who makes me feel alive.
