I can confirm that. Early readers can have a heavy impact on a story. I originally only planned on writing 1 or 2 chapters of Uniform System. There were a few people who encouraged me through reviews and/or comments early on which motivated me to keep writing. Now I'm too far in and have become attached to it haha. I don't think I could drop it even if I wanted to. On the other hand, if it had got no reviews, votes, or comments in the earliest stages then I probably wouldn't have continued it back then.
Dropping Novels Like Pancakes
SnoozySloth I feel you bro. :) I know the feeling of being motivated by comments. :)

Haha, yeah. I wonder if voters/commenters realize how much they mean to the author. A couple days ago my novel got featured on the Daily Updates section. I got tons of new comments and power stones. It felt great haha. I swear it creates a dopamine loop or something. I would repeatedly check just to see if my numbers went up.
fluffybootydesu That would really be great. The stupid thing is: We authors can actually put our novels in a hiatus or dropped category but that doesn't show up on webnovel.
For now, the only thing a reader can do is having a look at the table of contents on the website. There's the last update mentioned. Unfortunately, that doesn't work in the app
yansusustories The only method is making an announcement in Author's Notes, or in Announcement Chapter.
MasterRabbink I know :D But most authors don't so as a reader I always check the ToC first before picking up anything

Please support the 'impossible'!
Try to check this Rabbink's novel. (So far 1 volume, and still kept the daily updating). Gr.... That Edgarry (WN curator) hadn't featured my novel ever in the Trending Originals even after 2 months.

yansusustories I always check 'Author's Past Track Record." and try to check the reviews. Bai taught me that. Last Update is a must.
I can empathise. Although I can't promise to finish all stories I start. I can say that if I've stated a short story novel, then I will definitely finish it. Oh, shameless promotion of my current short story for contest #13 which I will finish (so please feel free to stone me): https://www.webnovel.com/book/11594063006435705/The-Demon's-Clockwork-Heart
:D
fluffybootydesu it's harder to follow through after a great introduction. It seems like majority of original authors winged everything else after creating a good early chapters. An outline should be made first, not just hastily write an isekai novel. Not everyone is blessed with such talent, like the Hodor scene.
If someone's novel theme is like those overrated system novels, there's a 50% ~ 70% chance that the author will simply drop the novel halfway. I guarantee it.
So yeah, if the author is quite pressured about the competition or just too lazy to write, there's a guarantee that the author himself or herself will quit writing their own novel. (Drop)
Trust me. I'm an engineer.
yansusustories interesting I hope this site steps up their game in being more organized
Myriad_ haha I don't mind systems too much, but i do prefer novels that barely have the system assisting them or none at all.
fluffybootydesu Then just read mine....
fluffybootydesu that suit my novel
