Mini rant due to frustration!!! I'm curious how webnovel decides on what is trending. I've been busting my butt writing all week and manage to stay within the top 50 original novels, but there are things that aren't even in the top 200, with less views, lower ratings, and lower number of ratings that are considered trending when they've been out for over a month!? How is a rank 215 novel tending more than a rank 45-50 novel that updates nearly four times a day with more than 200k more views with about an eighth of the publication time!?

I'm so sad by the bias showed after my friend pointed the fact out to me TT_TT. It makes all my efforts feel like they're being swept aside.

Sorry if I've offended anyone. If my friends hadn't pointed it out, I would have probably been perfectly content with my lovely readers...I simply find the current situation illogical and frustrating.

    Einlion The trending section are for those writers who have less than 5,000 people in their collections, if your passed that 5,000 then the chances of trending is lowered. The trending section is also for those, who had a sudden increase of readers, or in their popularity.

        lynerparel I only started writing about a week ago and went from 0-4000 collections within the timespan of 9 days. I also gained 500k views with more than 20 ratings bringing my average to 4.7. My novel is even hovering around the top 3-5 slots in the fanfiction section TT____TT

            Einlion Well then I'm not sure. Has your work been featured in the trending section? If it hasn't maybe after this batch your's is next.

                lynerparel Not yet it hasn't. I just can't comprehend how a novel that has 200k less views that has been out since August 11th is more trending than one that released on 9 days ago with 502k views TT____TT.

                    Einlion The trending is curated. A curator read a novel and moved toward next novel. If he found a new novel which he deemed as have a potential he will feature that.

                    With the huge number of Original here, he will miss novel that doesn't click with him on the first read (he is told to reduce system novel for example, I think fanfic also rarely get feature.).

                    So you can only remind him to take a look at your novel again.

                          I think everyone missed out a detail on this thread's rant. OP is writing a fanfiction. (Not really sure what the story is actually about, I can't think of any from the synopsis) but from that information alone. You won't get featured. Period. These novels are curated, posted to attract views. If your novel is a "fanfiction", then sorry, Edgar could literally not pick it up.

                          Why you might ask? The point of getting featured is to throw that novel into the fray, testing the waters for its viability to become contracted and become premium in the future. Fanfics, on the other hand, simply can't.

                            Cobyboy I think I saw one or two fanfic on the Trending. However, you are right. There has never been a FanFic on the Trending.

                                Einlion original novels were never a trend to begin with. Picking random originals or actually making an effort to compare the difference of 10 to 20 views between originals doesn't make that much difference. So why would they choose the latter? Ain't nobody got time fo' dat!

                                            That synopsis vaguely reminds me of the Necromancer who doesn't want a fourth time, if it's not and there is one with similar concepts, please do educate my poor soul.

                                              trending is not what people are telling you.

                                              trending just means that they just put it on the bottom of the front pages for a bit...

                                              every story will get a chance to be trending as long as they are above 20k words which is not hard to achieve and has a bunch of collections.

                                              the interesting thing is that they will not put fanfic as trending but i guess it has to do more with issues we are not privvy to.

                                                Do you think the editor' choice on WW is really some editor's choice, not an ad to promote novels, and same situation here.

                                                honestly i stopped thinking about trending and power stone rank and whatsoever that matters. i write for me and my reader and whether the ones up there noticing it or not, it doesn't make a difference. even though i still ask for power stone and keep on hoping senpai to notice me, I didn't put my hope on that. you know
