ririnn QBY has an evil soul twin, twin that couldn't be born, so he was 2 souls in one body. The real QBY liked the past-life GRY. Unfortunately, his soul twin wanted to take over the world. Real QBY pursued GRY and wanted to propose to her by gifting her all the spiritual beasts, but the twin used the body to get close to GRY and hurt her instead. His evil twin tried to merge their souls into one so that he could suppress QBY, but QBY separated their souls. If you've watched 10 miles of peach blossom, QBY is Mo Yuan and the evil twin is Ye Hua (of course Ye Hua wasn't evil and he wasn't born together with MoYuan), but he's the twin that couldn't be born.
When BaiQian resealed that evil dude in the bell, her memories were locked and she lived as SuSu. Same thing, QBY separated the souls and his memories were sealed in the process and his strength weakened too. Then he was in a coma til he came in contact with the reincarnated GRY.
If you remember the ShiYun girl at the beginning of the novel that thought QBY had to be her lover because she saw him in a dream.... she was confused because the evil soul twin "created" her. The real child was ShiYun's twin that was sisters with the ghost doctor. The evil QBY cloned her during pregnancy and made ShiYun so he could make use of her. So that's who she dreamed about, but thought it was QBY.
He was also the one that hurt YiXie and the great 4 beast Tortoise. I think GRY called him "the holy one" or something.
So GRY was right when she said it wasn't QBY. Even Yixie didn't know about the evil twin, that's why he's sure that it was QBY.
*There was no misunderstanding in the future. GRY truly believed that it wasn't QBY and she got to meet the evil twin later.

ririnn She didn't forget. She got reincarnated. Actually, GRY made the world. She also made Yixie to accompany her because she was lonely. She was the highest existence in her first life with the ultimate power. She couldn't bear the loneliness so she kept on reincarnating. She realized that having ultimate power was a weakness, so shared it across every reincarnation. QBY met all of her reincarnations, that's why he was able to identify GRY when he woke up from coma.
The last level of the ancient pagoda after her last breakthrough contains all of her past self. The final goal is for her to merge with all of her reincarnations and regain her ultimate power.
Her ultimate power is what the evil twin was after, but she defeated him after she consolidated her powers.
