Everyone likes an adorable child.
In our lives, adorable kids can be our siblings, or our own children. It might even be a stranger who changes our day for the better with a single smile.
In many popular web novels, there is the freqent element of adorable kids. At times, they are the main lead's child or siblings. at times, they might be an actual form of a system. And these adorable kids in web novels are well-liked by readers. We can even view these adorable babies as icing on the cake.
You can use adorable kids in your novel as a creational element or source of inspiration. Adorable babies can be the family members of the lead, a system, or something else… You can even attempt having an adorable kid as your story's main lead. But as long as your story has the existence of an adorable baby, you can participate in this writing prompt competition.

Writing Prompts Contest #23：Gene Evolution

Xuanhuan novels that take place in modern day society are typically called "Modern Xuanhuan", while those that take place in the future are called "Future Xuanhuan". In these types of stories, gene evolution is a common story element.
First of all, Xuanhuan is different from science fiction. That's because no matter if a Xuanhuan novel takes place in the past, present, or future, on Earth or on another world, Xuanhuan novels don't need to withstand rigorous analysis of how their power systems actually work. Nor are Xuanhuan novels like hard science fiction novels that have detailed descriptions of their technology. The essence of Xuanhuan novels is about leveling (link), while gene evolution is a modern day or futuristic story element that's suitable for leveling stories like these.
Classical examples of gene evolution stories include: Super Gene, The Strongest Gene. If our prospective authors are unfamiliar with this topic, please refer to these stories~

How to join

When you create your new novel, you can choose any genre that you wish. Then, the writing contest options will appear. Choose the [Writing Prompts Contest #22：Adorable Kid] or [Writing Prompts Contest #23：Gene Evolution] option in order to participate in this contest.

Rules

1.The main topic of your novel should be Adorable Kid or Gene Evolution. Otherwise, it shall be treated as an invalid entry.
2.Your story entered in the contest must be your own original work, with the copyright held by you. No plagiarism is allowed.
3.The contest will take place from October 8, 2018 to October 14, 2018 (GMT +8).
4.The story must not contain any racial or religious discrimination against any other cultures or their lifestyles.
5.Only newly-created original novels shall be allowed to enter the contest.
6.Webnovel reserves the right of final interpretation for all stories submitted in this contest.

Prizes

For the top-ranked original novels submitted in this story writing contest, the prizes shall be as follows:

      Can the inversion of the adorable kid trope, like the deliberately cute child trope or the enfant terrible trope, be used in the adorable kid writing prompt contest?

          i'm too busy this week binge watching The Rise of Phoenixes and starting to re-write my story The Jade Gate. But I wish luck to everyone who joins the writing prompt.

            LawCol I started watching it but I stopped at the first episode 😣

                The first episode was poorly done. It spent too much time trying to re-cap all the important historical events that led up to the series, making it disjointed. Also since the main characters hadn't been introduced at that point, it's hard to care about what's going on.

                That sort of thing can work for period dramas based on the Warring States or Romance of the Three Kingdoms, since audiences have some idea of what is happening and who the players are. But it definitely didn't work for Rise of the Phoenixes.

                IMO the series does improve. It's more soap opera and less action than most Chinese period series I've watched. But I enjoy the political intrigue and visual presentation. Plus some of the main characters are likable.

                    LawCol No wonder, yeah it was really hard to keep up with what was going on, but it is still on my list of things to watch, so I'll give it another try. 😆 Thx for explaining

                                          Too bad it has to be a new work, I've got an old one that would be PERFECT for the "Adorable Kid" one. :p

                                          Unfortunately I haven't been able to write(or draw, or sculpt) anything in quite a while(honestly a few years now), it's like my head is filled with mud when I try, nothing coherent or readable at all no matter how hard I try or how long I work on it... For someone who used to churn out a new story or piece of art every couple days it's pure torture...probably lost all my fans long ago too... DX
