Qidian needs to screen and filter each and every stories there are accepting in their ORIGINAL section. Being a creator/author is good, but ripping off the works of others is very stupid, unprofessional and violates the rights of these said creators/translators/authors of the stories/novels.
Not so Original
NeverBeenSeen Some would agree, Some would disagree, I stand in the middle and just say how it is now... if you see that a novel is being ripped off, just let the original author know that they can file a DMCA to webnovel to get that novel removed.;,;. if that does not happen, Webnovel will take no action to remove the novel.;,;.
With the amount of novels that are uploaded every day I doubt it's even possible to properly screen each one, except they use a plagiarism detecting bot or something
TheWritingChicken except they use a plagiarism detecting bot or something
That's a good idea.;,;. @NeverBeenSeen, do you agree?
I wonder if you could rip off your own novel?
NeverBeenSeen those copy cats could easily get off by saying it's used as an inspiration. XD
bachingchung if its word for word copy and paste... That excuse might not work. There is a word called 'plagiarism', and thats what they are doing.
DeJeL that would be ideal, since there are a lot of this instances, with the same exact novel. I wonder how did it ever pass their notice? A novel being posted more than once, with the same title, here in webnovels. Its a sign of weak controls over the original portion of their program.
NeverBeenSeen TheWritingChicken
The way to make this not happen continuously is to make a section like "What's next", but with the exception that all the chapters that the author publishes can be seen and analyzed by the reader or administrator of the page. So in that way you can avoid so many problems of copyright or plagiarism and also avoid having so many unfinished novels.
They won't remove them with out a DMCA from the original author or translator. They can argue whatever they want for why they require the DMCA but what it pretty much comes down to is by allowing users to post these stolen novels or translations they are able to use their competitions work with out the risk of being sued sense the company wasn't the ones who posted it. They can say that's not it but if reports are filed on these stolen novels that include a link to the original translator/authors site they have no reason not to remove said novel.
InfernalRhage that's why its frustrating. The company itself is putting their own company at risk by still allowing such instances to exist. They are saying that only authors and translators are allowed to complain, but not all authors and translators are aware of these plagiarism and the most aware are the readers that have read and encounter them. Webnovel should atleast put these plagiarized novels on hold or frozen as reports are carried on. Then, analyse/investigate the real truth behind it. Its a small effort to type into the server the title, to see if it already exist and read a small portion of it, then compare to the submitted novels to them.
NeverBeenSeen It is industry practice to only take down with DMCA because there is no way to verify who the copyright owner is. By issuing a DMCA, you are legally binding yourself and if you are lying, it's perjury.
In a DMCA request, there is a statement they have to say that the information is accurate to their knowledge under penalty of perjury.
And you say that the company is bringing legal trouble to itself, the first cause of action IS the DMCA.
I agree with the DMCA method.
While a plagirism detecting bot might sound ideal, it has a flaw. What if you write on other sites? Many authors post their novels on competing sites before or after coming here.
Note: I'm not a lawyer and you should not take the below information as legal advice.
As for books with the same title, most book titles are in fact NOT copyrighted. It's rare for book titles to have copyrights due to them being short and using common words. Ever read Daedalus? One of the top originals. There's literally over a dozen books on Amazon with the same title or part of he title. Usually only rare exceptions copyright book titles for popular titles. Such as Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, etc. It's an expensive process, but worth it for books like those.
NeverBeenSeen Warlock Magus World got out from paraphrasing The Wizard World. So you definitely 9verestimate a CN publishing bottomline.
CKtalon Really then how do you explain letting someone post MGA under original novels? After all the issues webnovel has had with WW you know damn well that is being translated over there but even after reporting it it is still up.
NeverBeenSeen Unfortunatly with this shady ass company all we can do is report it when its seen and inform the original author/translator eventually someone will take legal action against them in a court outside of China where their money won't buy them the ruling they want.
InfernalRhage If it's brought to Webnovel's attention, it will be removed. Please give the link of the MGA that is posted here.
CKtalon then you have
https://www.webnovel.com/book/12053687305842305/God-And-Devil-World-%5BBeginning-Chapter%5D
when in the discription he admits to copying it over from another site sense you didn't have the beginning chapters
as well as
https://www.webnovel.com/book/11342040605344205/High-School-DxD-(Raw)
which is copied straight from baka-tsuki and again in the discription it states he copied it from else where. I have sent reports on all these and nothing. While I get that you require DMCA's for original novels the community is small enough that for translated works as a translator you should know most of the original translators how would you feel if someone took your hard work and posted it elsewhere as an "Original" novel?

I report everyone I come across and include a link to the original translation site as well as the translators name unfortunately contacting each and every translator is impossible sense some have quit translating and others just don't have a contact link on their page.

InfernalRhage All 6 books have been removed. There's no need to link the translations for pirated translations.
CKtalon another "original" copy of MGA

While it may seem I am bugging about this it is quite clear that the report option is not viable. I know for a fact this last one has been reported multiple time by multiple people and it is still up. I get that you guys get an uncountable number of reports everyday but if you know there is no way to screen every single one then it is time to come up with another option for how to handle the issue. Honestly I would suggest a forum discussion dedicated to reporting plagiarism with a admin dedicated to just handling that.

CKtalon And another one

Hell open up the first chapter and it still has the WW watermarks that they hide to keep this from happening
And I have reported this one at least 5 times a day for the past 3 days.
InfernalRhage Both have been deleted.
Those people will always make an excuse like "it's for inspiration" or "it's only for reading purpose"
My work has been plagiarized and I sent out a DMCA request days ago but no response from Webnovel. At least an email saying they are working on it would be good. Webnovel is not doing enough.
InfernalRhage Maybe you can help me report. My work has been plagiarized and has not gotten a response. My friends reported it and no response. What's wrong with this site?
Mounchy
You can try tagging @WEBNOVEL_OFFICIAL they're usually pretty good about replying. You'll need to tell them the name of the book and share the link though.
SnoozySloth Okay thanks.
