  • YuushaExa Really they are just fine... need I remind you of all translators who got hit by DMCA's by Qidian around the time this site was started? What do you think would have happened if they had continued translating said novels after that.
Secondly you can not compare translating a novel from one language to another to people straight up copying 90% of someone elses work with a few slight changes, weather it be to the story line or the addition of a few new characters, and labeling it as ORIGINAL.

  • Yea the app is all fucked up I ended up getting rid of it and just use my browser to read after I got tired of having to open each and every novel to sync my progress manually after reading on my computer, ain't no one got time for that.

    • Dugdimadome When you have a contract with someone you can't just get rid of them. You have to be able to prove they are in violation of said contract first. A petition is not going to do anything. Also if you go look at this thread, https://forum.webnovel.com/d/14924-is-there-a-way-to-only-rate-translator-and-or-translation-groups-should-be/3 you would see where CKtalon stated, "Webnovel is looking into replacing them..but it will take time...Very few translators will be willing to pick up another person's work."

    • FujiCigarette Yea luck based VRMMORPG's are way to overplayed what gets me with them is how the MC of those novels is the only one who seems to have an insanely high luck stat. I mean if one person found a bug like that others are going to as well, and then its gonna get nerfed in the next update no game allows one class/skill/build to be that broken without fixing it. You are also right about the intelligent systems if you want your MC to have a companion with him at all times like that give him a personal AI in his head, or a split personality that will work too.

      • If you have tried restarting the app and that didn't work I would suggest you report it there is a forum thread somewhere for reporting bugs and issues.

        • SnoozySloth Yes I understand there is a lot of planning and math involved in a proper system novel. Imagine though if these authors spent even part of that time focusing on improving their actual story how much better written most of said novel would be. While I haven't read your system novel I must say I really enjoyed Steampunk Apocalypse.
EldridSmith While I haven't got around to reading your novel yet it is in my library I will try to get to it at some point this evening.

          • EldridSmith I don't mind systems used like that its the ones who let the MC learn anything he wants with little to no effort as long as he has enough points to buy it that bug me. Not really a big issue I guess but it just rubs me wrong being able to obtain that kind of power without even trying. It feels like a tool used by the author to keep from actually having to put effort into the novel. Oh I want him to learn fire magic lets put it in the shop for x amount of points and once he buys it boom top grade fire mage acquired.

            • While it may seem I am bugging about this it is quite clear that the report option is not viable. I know for a fact this last one has been reported multiple time by multiple people and it is still up. I get that you guys get an uncountable number of reports everyday but if you know there is no way to screen every single one then it is time to come up with another option for how to handle the issue. Honestly I would suggest a forum discussion dedicated to reporting plagiarism with a admin dedicated to just handling that.

              • I would also suggest a better screening process before picking up new translators. Most of the ones who do this were doing it before coming over to WN and a in depth look into a translators history before contracting them would reveal this. While it may not seem fair to the translators if the novel they are translating has its copyright owned by Qidian and they can not be reliable hit them with a DMCA and find someone reliable to restart the translation at chapter 1. While I am sure you will catch flack from the fans for this that is nothing new. No matter what you do someone is going to complain, at least this way you don't have the issue of finding a translator to pick up someone elses work they would be completely restarting the translation of a book who's translation was never finished.

              • Tashady Once again the deffinition of fan fiction is: fiction written by a fan of, and featuring characters from, a particular TV series, movie, etc.

Notice it never once states that it has to follow the original plot line.

                • That makes more sense any ideas on when you will begin posting your original? That is definitely something I don't want to miss.

                  • BrightDawn As much as I enjoy your novel I feel I must point out the chances of them contracting a fan fiction is pretty much 0. This is due to the fact that the moment you start making money on a fan fiction unless you have purchased the rights to use the characters and settings, (in the case of your novel Naruto and Highschool DXD) you are opening yourself up to multiple lawsuits for copyright infringment.

                    • I'm just curious about everyone's thoughts about systems in novels. Personally I feel a basic system that just shows a characters stats, skills and their progression can be a useful tool especially in sword and magic fantasy novels. What annoys me about the system designs in most novels is the inclusion of a store where the MC can just buy any ability he/she wants. When you add in a level system where just by leveling up they can increase their stats it gets kinda stupid. It seems that most novel systems are just thrown in to make the MC as OP as possible as quickly as possible. This has ruined a few novels for me. So whats everyone's take on it? Do you enjoy systems in novels or no?

                      • yaoyueyi I have seen a few new original novels sense this post was started that seem to be following your guide. So congrats on your satire guide actually being helpful to people!!

                        • That's a good idea but who would you even talk to about something like that on here?
