Zhevons I agree somewhat. It's just as u like a number of books. A lot need up going premium some even as early as chapter 40. It does cause ppl to just lose interest because it takes too much so to just finish reading that novel u like. I really don't want all the books to go premium otherwise it's too costly for many of us who just want to enjoy reading the novels.
Gradualy fading interest. Am I the only one ? Personal toughts and suggestions.
HeWhoReadsBooks yeah, it's just the increasing number of books going premium can overwhelm you.
Based on what people are saying., It seems people agree, that the overall issue seems to be that is overpriced. I think everyone agree's its fair that authors, translators and distributers all gets a fair cut. The question I need to ask is, why do people think that QI here is sticking to a price that seems way over market price, not communicating with the "customer base" and finaly any suggestions to how this can be overcome in a Win Win situation for all parties ? Because to me for any realistic situation that seems to be a must.
Zhevons I think the main issues are the lack of a direct communication line between WN readers and QI and the authors, as well as differences in the market that they don't understand. If we had a community representative that could properly explain the issues directly, I think it could go a long way for resolving the issues. As it is now, we go through WN staff, and I think they don't have a direct line to the authors and other relevant parties either...
Every step in the communication process makes it less effective, which is why I think a monthly meeting which includes a community rep, QI staff, WN staff, a translator rep and an author rep would be ideal. That way, all parties can present their interests and the problems they have and perhaps reach a compromise where everyone is happy.
Zhevons Chinese people are the most shameless people you can find. I can be the prove of this. They will scam, suck you dry, and grab all your money in anyway possible. Just do what I do. Make 2 or 3 accounts. And I get free SS a total of around 20-30 SS everyday. I wait until it is going to expire in 5 days and use as many spirit stone I have saved. Then I repeat that process. I can be 100% sure you won’t have a problem with SS anymore. I have 1 account on iPad, 1 account on phone, and thinking of getting 1 account on laptop and 1 account on my desktop computer.
i'm just going to find pirate websites to read the premium novels
WN already left a massive loophole on the SS problem, it's up to you if the SS problem would remain. You could either abuse the bug or pay for SS. Ranting won't solve your problems. You're not the first lazy mofo that whined about it, there are at least two or 3 that would rant in the forum everyday. Take the hint, they won't change the price.
this is like the n-th thread that complained about overpricing.
Give it up. I bet they determine price by statistics, not by public opinion.
tbh while I also hates the price as a reader, I kinda thought QI is a genius money maker. They offend all readers since the very first WuxiaWorld incident yet people still end up reading here. Chapter's prices are high but not high enough to dissuade everyone to give up paying for SS. So yeah, I don't think there's anything we can do by ranting here.
The most worthless post made so far. Why dont you go to bed instead ? Adults are trying to talk constructivly about the problem here. IF you believe this to be whine go back to school, you would need it.
Perhaps. But staying quiet about it is definatly worse. If its the n-th one perhaps its time to increase it by yet an other 10 times. No one, who loves money. Wants that money to disapear. They might make it so far, but there is a thing called pressure. Either they will burst, or the community will. Either result is bad for them in the end. The LN community is not big enough to sustain longterm a conflict between distributers and readers. Besides if one does not have anything constructive to bring to the table, I am sure there are other threads out there one can spend time in. If one think that dissing people who are complaining about something quite legitimate in the end fo the day, it just makes you part of the problem.
You can't compare a webnovel with a series. Webnovels have tons of plotholes, fillers and what not. And trust me, buying a western series in a bundle is still cheaper than the prices here
You do realize that this can you get banned ;D
Zhevons lol. It is whining whatever you call it. Your post is the most useless post here, if there's a hint of usefulness to it then your problem about the app would be solved from the first month of release already. Here is something that could help you.
My 2 cents is that the pricing is actually what scares me.
I do the calculation and 10 dollars is about 60 or so chapters. At face value yea that is a lengthy novel itself. But there is a lot of fluff in chapters and with such long running series with so many chapters that can be read quickly, rather then words I think more of the time it takes to read them (since at least I tend to start skimming if it starts to fluff up).
60 chapters is roughly a few hours for me (depending on the series / chapter length of course, the "average" is this). I made it to chapter 895 where premium chapters started within a week of marathoning it. So 1000 chapters I would say is equivalent to marathoning a multi season series on netflix.
That same amount of chapters if all premium is around $150 to read for a week. I am a fast reader yea, and I love to read lots of series, even while reading release that witch I was keeping up on at least 5 other series on various sites.
However when it comes to paying, I want something physical if I am paying x amount for it. Subscriptions I am fine with if I can just read as I want, so I would prefer a system where maybe I pay $20 dollars a month (high, but clearly with so many independent translators and authors its not going to be simple) or something. I think that something like that would overall be more profitable. Might seem like less, but a lot more people would be willing to go for it.
I want to support the authors / translators whenever I can, many light novels I like that I started reading the early fan translations for I go and buy if I see them in a book store, even if I never actually open them since I already read it.
I need to budget my purchases, so getting to like a series and having to pay that much just to read it over the course of the week feels like I am just burning the money, it feels like punishment. If its just a fixed cost per month then I feel I am paying for the privilege of reading it. Its a difference in mentality that many companies know, like netflix and such. If a series on netflix had 4 seasons you wanted to binge, each episode is a dollar with 12 episodes per season, that is like 48 dollars to watch it. Still less then buying it on blue ray, but you would feel like you made a mistake doing it once you finished. Netflix rose from frustrations with that sort of system (renting dvd's one at a time vs a flat monthly fee).
If they did a subscription and eliminated the current system, my thought is they would completely take over the market, I agree on gradually fading interest. Right now webnovel at the cross roads. The current system does not work, I won't spend any money on Spirit stones regardless of how much I love a series, but a subscription? Sign me up.
The series I currently read are gradually going premium and I have to all but drop them until, either I win the lottery and don't care about the money I throw around, or a more viable system is available for me to utilize.
Zhevons I use my spirit stone on IRAS and The Mech Touch, I even used power stones to help the author (sadly now I must use my power stones on my own story cough) so I can only read the daily chapter of IRAS and two of the mech touch to slowly get up to date. But still... that is so freaking low, when there used to be ads I read almost my whole library, but now I have to wait a whole day for 3 chapters (mech touch is hella expensive) And sometimes they are even a filler!!! That really irks me and I even lose the motivation to read other stories...
I know that I haven't pursached a single spirit stone, but I mean, if I want to use money for entertainment I can buy something cheaper, even if it is not even better at least it is worth my time.
I personally, only read the novels, that let me view an ad, as an exchange method to view it.
All you have to do is google the really popular novels and you can find them for free. IRASS is on Reddit...
If, they used more ads, It would be best.
I do not even read novels, that have a charge SS payment method only. I'd just pirate it out of spite, or move on.
In, fact web-novel was the first place I came to to start reading novels, its now the last...
