So, I'm writing a romance story and I like to immerse myself in the genre that I'm writing in, so I would love to know what you guys think is the best romance you've ever read and why you liked it.
Whatever you recomend doesn't need to be an actual romance novel, it can be a story with romance in it.

The best type of romance are gradual romance.
Not those unrealistic overbearing ceos or princes(people should be fed up with them by now).

Actual romance from decent male perspective as well(without fillers but only 4-5 chaps. Short novel)- mulberry song, our second young master
In standard xianxia/wuxia(from male perspective)- i would say novels like martial art master has more realistic romance.
In xianxia/wuxia(female perspective)- romance and plot execution in novels like the road to jianghu is curved would be better. This is because such genres should not have all romance. But you can also write novels like 'seven unfortunate lifetimes'.

For me, a good romance is one that builds up the relationship of the couple over time. They will have their hardships and misunderstandings but it's normally in the interest of the other. A story that can take things past (and they kissed the end) also get a big recommend from me. Basically, don't assume that there town like another because one is the Mc and the other the next most important character and they looked at another for a little while.
I was originally not going to have romance in my work because it's done a lot and in most of the shows I have watched (I am an even anime watcher.) it all feel kind of samey. My friend convinced me however and it forced me to write one that I would be happy with. Now I feel it's one of the most compelling part of my story.
As for recommendations, since I'm super new here I can't help you but I feel Clannad after story is a good example of well-done romance.
