Do you want me write a novel? Any suggestions for the genre? If you chosed this specific genre, mind to explain why you chose it? I want someone to be a collab with me.

Just write what you feel like right? I don't think it's wise to base your story entirely on someone else's setting/genre/idea. And regarding the collab part, that's probably going to be very hard. Unless you just have a person you trade some ideas with, it's going to be such a tedious process actually writing the story together.
Don't write a novel. Or rather, don't aim for a novel. Write a story. Or two. Or a hundred. Your stories don't have to be complete, they don't always need a final solution to the problems, and they don't need to be long. You can leave them open ended.
Once you find a story that you like and has developmental potential, then look forward to expanding that story into a novel. Introduce new subplots (i.e. the focus of the story is about a hard working mother with a daughter. It focuses on the everyday routine that the mother makes every day. However, the mother thinks that someone else is replacing her daughter, more and more each day. Why is this happening? Who is this new person? She no longer looks like the daughter the mother once knew, but still carries the same mannerism.) Story ends. The story is focused in that strange sensation. That feeling of someone close being replaced by some stranger, but who still feels the same.
Well, let's introduce a new story line, with this as the conclusion: she finds out that she actually has Alzheimer's, repeating each day while forgetting about the others. As her daughter age, she no longer recognizes her daughter without her daughter acting like how she was as a child. The focus here would be the build up on finding out the reason of the strange change. Build up to find out about Alzheimer's.
Want to continue? Well, introduce a small fact about the father. You may need to revise your first story to introduce a small detail about the father. Maybe a pearl necklace the mom always wears. Or a worn-down bracelet, spiralled with black and yellow threads.
Before you know it, you have a novel, started from the story.
Additionally, you can throw in the details to expand a story. A scene about a ball room dance, two paragraphs long, suddenly becomes 2 pages describing the magnificent dresses, party gossips, arrival of x and y princess from z kindgoms.
Cast out your seeds as one-shot stories. Let the ones that grow into saplings become short story. Let the ones that grows into full trees become novels.
One step at a time. Any genre. Any style. Experiment. Find yourself. Find your way. You may also come to find that tending this garden of stories isn't for you. That's okay too. You've learned how to grow a garden. That takes work. Be proud and move on. But don't let your reason to write be because of "he wanted me to write." You're not in love with that person. You're not interested in that person. It now becomes a chore, a work. Work becomes tiring. Things will seem unfair--little things, to be exact. You'll lose that drive, that motivation; and with that motivation, that imagination.
Write to show us the worlds that are in your head, the messages you want us to hear. If it resonates with us, we'll come. And when we do, we'll read. So until then, write. Write away. Not because someone wanted to collaborate with you; nor because someone is telling you they want you to write. Write because you want to. You may find that there are stories you don't want to share. That's okay too. You're finding you. Write away.
Nou That's deep man...
Uh... Thanks?
Well, I started to develop my 'story' a while ago. I'm going slow - at a pace that suits me. Not aiming for chapters per week or anything. I just want to write a story that I like, one that removes the usual tropes and adds in unique ones...or something, I'm not trying to think too much about it.
Pick any genre you want, you shouldn't pick from peoples suggestions.
I chose fantasy, as pretty much everyone else does. Fantasy for me is easy, although the hardest part for me is the Magic System(Soft - Hard - etc) and World Building(Names for stuff...I have the idea but not the name, I spent literal days looking for good names ;c)
Also, if you want to collab, note down your interests so if someone has the same interests, they would be more likely to collab. For instance, if someone wanted to collab for a romance novel, I wouldn't want to collab because I'm not interested in romance.

Like Nou said 'One step at a time. Any genre. Any style. Experiment. Find yourself. Find your way. You may also come to find that tending this garden of stories isn't for you. That's okay too. You've learned how to grow a garden. That takes work' - I'm saving this btw
Thanks man.
Is there a reason why you're stuck on a level system for magic?
Check out Trudi Canavan's "The Black Magician" or Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn series. There's magic, and there is a logic to the magic. No systems or levels there, if i recall correctly. Check that out too see if you're interested in a world of magic without "level 1 apprentice" and "world exalt magus the fourth"
Nou
I'm trying to make one with logic, like the Mistborn series. I want one with no levels or those grand repetitive names too, but eh, don't know how.
I'm looking for one like the Avatar System,(Avatar The Last Airbender) which was simple and...smart? How do I explain?
I don't know, my mind just wants a unique one and every time I look at the system I created, I just feel...uncomfortable. I've written literally dozens of systems but I can't choose one(Pretty similar, I lost my creative spark a while ago)
Well, I'm trying to put that behind me. I just decided to start with something simple, I'm not trying to create a masterpiece or anything.
Anyways, thanks.
jum_sy Try a semi-realistic fantasy like half of facts are true and the other is made just make sure kinda convincing like castle of black iron or the world online is up to you if you want to add romance
Guys, wait. Let me read first your comments.
lordcastle I started writing one and haven't published Chapter 1 yet and it's a romance
Nou Thank you for your suggestions, Nouu!! Your message is too long, yet, I managed to read it. I've learned something from you and I've just started chapter 1 of my story and haven't published it yet.
Misguided_Rooster Yess, Nou is right. Yep, it always takes time. Thank you too, Kingicez. I appreaciate your suggestions with Nou and lordcastle.
Oh boy. If that was too long, I think I typed a much-too-long essay for the person I just replied to, yikes!
But I'm glad that helps. I'd recommend not splitting the chapters in terms of word count (i.e. This is 5,000 words already, so chapter 1 should end), but more in terms of theme/message. You can fiddle with the word count afterward. It's not too late then. Some books that I've read have chapters that are literally less than a paragraph long. Don't let webnovel dictate how long each chapter be. I mean, yeah, you'll probably have to adjust it if you want to post it to their site, but don't let that dictate how long each chapter should be. For example:
Chapter 1
*thud* *thud*
Her heart beat loudly in this silent and forsaken forest. No birds could be heard singing, no leaves rustling. With each step she took, blood could be seen in the footprints.
``
'I have to make it back,' she thought, 'and warn them. If they're unprepared, the whole village could be wiped out. I mustβ'
*crash*
Losing too much blood, she fell onto the ground, never to stand again.
/End of Chapter 1
Every piece is a part of your masterpiece, no matter how downtrodden it may be. It may not be your magnum opus, the peak of your works, but it's laying the foundation for it.
G'luck, and may the stories you two write see the light of day!
Nou You must be a famous editor/co-editor then. I just visited your profile and it says that you're a co-editor of plun--I forgot what was it. Admittedly, I'm just new here in webnovel tho. I don't really care about this app. Yet, Facebook always promote webnovel and I became curious about it; curiousity kills I downloaded it b'cos I love to read.
