Well, I started to develop my 'story' a while ago. I'm going slow - at a pace that suits me. Not aiming for chapters per week or anything. I just want to write a story that I like, one that removes the usual tropes and adds in unique ones...or something, I'm not trying to think too much about it.
Pick any genre you want, you shouldn't pick from peoples suggestions.
I chose fantasy, as pretty much everyone else does. Fantasy for me is easy, although the hardest part for me is the Magic System(Soft - Hard - etc) and World Building(Names for stuff...I have the idea but not the name, I spent literal days looking for good names ;c)
Also, if you want to collab, note down your interests so if someone has the same interests, they would be more likely to collab. For instance, if someone wanted to collab for a romance novel, I wouldn't want to collab because I'm not interested in romance.

Like Nou said 'One step at a time. Any genre. Any style. Experiment. Find yourself. Find your way. You may also come to find that tending this garden of stories isn't for you. That's okay too. You've learned how to grow a garden. That takes work' - I'm saving this btw
