  • Can An Original Novel Get A Contract If It Has Smut?

Hopefully someone knows the answer to this question, as I've been "cultivating" the art of writing H-Scenes with a practice novel. I don't want my "hard work" to bite me in the butt, I also don't want to lose the the chance to get a contract. If that kind of writing is something that can detract from my credit as an author, how far can I go without incurring the wrath of the higher ups? (Please and also answer this question if writing smut is allowed; how explicit can we go?)

Anyways, I think my question can help other authors as well.

BrightDawn As much as I enjoy your novel I feel I must point out the chances of them contracting a fan fiction is pretty much 0. This is due to the fact that the moment you start making money on a fan fiction unless you have purchased the rights to use the characters and settings, (in the case of your novel Naruto and Highschool DXD) you are opening yourself up to multiple lawsuits for copyright infringment.

InfernalRhage The fan fiction is the practice novel I mentioned; I don't plan on getting contracted for a fan fiction~

That makes more sense any ideas on when you will begin posting your original? That is definitely something I don't want to miss.

InfernalRhage I will (hopefully) do that right after finishing the fan fiction; already have the first book finished, but I don't have the confidence to be able to keep up updates for both novels~

InfernalRhage Yeah just like you said... Also because of that, there's not many official fanfiction novel on internet
