it was mobile app webnovels. Depending on region you are in it gives you local ad i guess. Mine was well too damn long lately. Some of them strange pizza ad others fifa ad. all of them 1 minute - 2 minute ad longest was 3 minute. lol
The ads are automatically served by Google. It's not under Webnovel's control.

sounds like you missed hitting the X after the 30 or had lag on the mob app that made you watch extra adds ( I've had that one a few times as I had the ss's in fact after the 1st ad be it didn't show as a pop-up but after it happened a few times I looked on my pc and it had shown up on that faster than the phone app)

oh you mean on the chapter itself to unlock it? All the novels I read are premium now so no ads. 
I totally forgot about them.
