Fellow authors and readers, how do I make a good illusion chapter/scene where my uses his willpower to fight the illusion?
Almost any illusion scene type info would be good though.
My mc does know he's walking into an illusion and it's created by a fog/mist which can't be dispersed.

There is an illusion arc, in issth and japanize anime loves the whole willpower > anything idea might be able to pull there.

It depends on how you want him to discover that the illusion is an illusion, how you want the illusion to react upon his discovery, and how you want his willpower to affect it (if at all).

Answer these three things, and writing what happens should be pretty simple.

For example, let's say he suspects the illusion is an illusion because it says or does something that seems off or out of character. When the illusion is recognized for being an illusion, suddenly everything the illusion does just seems wrong somehow, and the hero recognizes these errors and the falsehood. When willpower is applied to disbelieve the illusion, it distorts, flickers, and goes out like an old tv screen.

You can come up with literally thousands of ways to write a scene just by controlling for and changing these three variables and keeping them in mind as you write.

Clowniac He knows he is walking into an illusion, it's caused by the supernatural mist of Niflheim. Clearing away the mist isn't an option either.
I mostly need how to transition to the illusion and inspiration on illusions.

EldridSmith i think the main thing is how does the illusion operate? If its supernatural then does it target his soul? What is willpower? Ask yourself questions like that and do your best to think of answers. It should help you understand how to make the scene. A logical way for the mc to break out should also pop up. All that is left is how to get the mc to that point where he is able to break out.

as a person who was once in an illusion like state, the best way to deal with a hallucination is to establish your five senses what I'm seeing, can I hear it? can I touch it? can I smell it? can I taste it? once these have been established the battle of logic can begin sometimes it's an obvious thing i.e mice cant talk other times it's more difficult especially when you're seeing a person you know.

when this happens find something that sets them apart from my mental projection of themselves for me and my trip; we are seated down having a snack and I noticed they are eating something they usually couldnt, my best friend hates avocados, she's allergic, in my hallucination we were having guacamole and I wondered why she wasn't dropping dead or puffing up like a puffer fish.

then the other things start falling into place, the sky isnt yellow, and this fisheye effect is not usually there...

Once logic is applied shock happens, it comes in waves i.e this isn't real, its time to wake up followed by a very nasty falling sensation to which the world spins into black and I wake up the next day with a brain-splitting headache.

that's usually it for me, that being said all that happened when I was touring the world at 19, I was roofied but my friends got me home, stay safe people.

EldridSmith well, you can take plenty of hints from Naruto. There are plenty of illusions used there ( probably everything that can be done with illusions are used)
              Or just Google:
              Itachi's story
              Shisui's story
Kotoamatsuki ( the strongest illusion technique in the naruto world , sorry for the wrong spelling )
              Or tsukuyomi
              Or hidden mist techniques
