I don't think it allows formatting yet in the stories honey. I've been trying to figure it out but nothing works thus you genuinely come up with creative ways to emphasize a point

Go to https://coolsymbol.com/cool-fancy-text-generator.html and write what you want. Then copy and paste the italic or bold into your story.
It works, but since the font is different, it stands out like a sore thumb.

nope its not working, honestly its such a big turn off and demotivating point for writers and a shame to company as webnovel itself. Bold and italics are very important for certain writings online

Text formatting is a privledge reserved for contracted authors. Prior to going premium you can try using unicode to format your text (old school text formatting/programming) but webnovel auto detects such code and blacklists non contracted books. The blacklist just means no one can vote for your book and requires webnovel support to whitelist it again... provided the offending text is removed of course.
