I think most of us can agree with that the prices of ss are too high, and that they are not going to change anything about that anytime soon cause they are money hungry. Just like Activision. But like seriously? Decreasing the amount of ss we can get from invitations and locking so many books is just too much. And just look at the gacha for the Christmas event. It is possible to get 5 ss from it, which is just plain stupid. What can that even unlock or get you, besides buying a balloon for a book? I can guarantee that over the next few months or years, Webnovel will be even more outrageous with their prices and locking of books
Webnovel is the Activision of novels
icyhail From what I've known, webnovel is still in its early stages. Things like price, policy, contracts will definitely change in the near future. Also, I heard that there is some communication problem between Webnovel and Qidian. China has different standards for things and is possibly trying to force it upon foreign readers, but I'm not 100% sure on it. All I know is that Webnovel will change for either good or bad.

icyhail since webnovel is responsible for paying a large group of people (the contracted authors) then of course they will need a bit more money than what we appreciate.
The lessen of the invite spirit stones also makes it so that more people will want to purchase spirit stones yes, but for many novels the way webnovel judges how much they are paid is by seeing how many presents they get. Presents cost spirit stones and the more present that are gifted, the more the author is paid. The problem with that is that free spirit stones are apparently not included into the calculations. So if an author gets 1000 spirit stones worth of presents and only 10 of those spirit stones are paid for (not free), then the author is only paid a bit of money.
Lessening the invite spirit stones amount means that more people might by the paid SS which means that they have more money to 1. Pay the authors, 2. Keep the site going, and 3. Purchase the rights for new books that they will translate.
I understand that it is annoying how webnovel is becoming a bit more money hungry, but they do have some reasons for this. Even if they are asking for more money than they need, please understand that those who work for webnovel s and are not authors need to be paid too.
Does this mean everything is good? No, there are definitely some problems with webnovel and we can only hope that they will find a way to make everything better and cheaper in the future. Please don’t hold too much hate for the company, thank you.

You see, you can get 10 coins from invitation codes, while 100 ss gets you 20 coins from gifting, hence they decreased it. Anyways you have a good day too :)
