If thats the admin's official stance to customer complaints about harassment then i'll go read elsewhere, the internet is free after all and there are enough good sites without comment sections. Not gonna waste my time asking for quality assurance if the admins openly support bullying. Goodbye folks.

Ilzow They will be banned in time, but not now. There's no way they can continue this for a year. Bringing attention to them is feeding the troll. Let them burn out, and we will delete the comments after that.

      CKtalon
You're kind of missing the point, which is countless people will accidentally read the spoilers. Responding to the trolls or not doesn't matter.

Are you suggesting readers should ignore the the comment section for a whole year? Seriously?

Or somehow magically forget having read the spoiler?

Tactics like "Only read comments after you've read the latest chapters" won't work. Why? Not everyone can afford to unlock all chapters at once. Many people use free SS, and have to slowly unlock chapters.

Telling them to ignore the comment section until they've read everything is ignorant.

So, yes, Just dropping a line like "Don't feed the troll" is irresponsible.

I do not know if your an admin, for this website forum or web-novels main website, but normally I agree with you on issues but you really are sucking up to your employer here.

Siding with a troll, over your normal readers...

Your response just motives me not to any send money on anymore SS until webnovel applies some common sense.

Maybe when sales for that novel start tanking will you/your company will listen to your readers...

Because if customer supports logic- is deal with it...

ImBloo I'm not speaking on behalf of Webnovel. There's just no cure-all pill for this symptom.

Perhaps you can give a better suggestion? Because a troll will just keep continuing and automatic systems aren't ready to handle such situations.

CKtalon create a "report spoiler" button. If enough people report the spoiler, apply an "unhide" feature for the comment like you have in the review sections. Do not display spoiler comments in the top 3 comment preview.
Reviews should also have a "report spoiler" feature so the onus to hide spoilers isn't completely on the writer of the review.

          CKtalon
I don't know what WN's system is like for dealing with this. How's the automatic system supposed to work? Based on user's reports or something else?

Is there even an option for a human to be involved?

If yes, hire one or more people specifically for this task? Recruit volunteers and pay them in spirit stones?

If no, how about improving the automatic system to respond and verify the reports faster? And (again) limiting the registrations to reliable email suppliers and not disposable email accounts?

It's alarming to see this kind of thing being reported for months without any sort of satisfactory response. I've seen self-moderated forums that are better than this.

I know you guys are understaffed, but this is ridiculous.

CKtalon Nowadays I totally ignore his existence, but guess what? He stalk my profile and reply to my comment for every novel I read and comment before. Btw, here are the suggestion made by readers so far :

            1) IP Ban
            2) Create a 'report spoiler' button where it will hide the comment just like the review section
            3) Prevent multiple created disposable account
            4) Hire someone where his task to manage the trolls (readers can pay him using ss)

It's pretty obvious Webnovel only cares about ripping people off. That's why you have to pay at least a few hundred dollars to finish a single book unless you're willing to wait years.

Right. @CKtalon Around half a year ago, didn't you say something about how Cthulhu Gonfalon was only retranslated and stockpiling chapters for the past year or two? That it wasn't dropped?

ImBloo The system is only operable by staff of Webnovel for now and the authority to do so is dependent on the staff's permissions. For instance, someone working as an editor doesn't have access/permission to access what their colleagues earn. So likewise, different people have different authorities.

Any report system basically floods them which is unable to be handled humanly at the moment. They are working on that by outsourcing this work, but it will take time.

                  1. IP bans won't work.
                  2. Report spoiler button will have no one manning it.
                  3. Again impossible just like 1.
                  4. That's in the works, but it has to be an employee, not at the volunteer level.

We have already been in discussion about allowing translators to have the ability to delete comments, but that will take time to implement. There's the worry that translators will delete ALL negative comments too, so it's a balance of multiple factors.

CKtalon so right now only number 2 and 4 can be achieve where the report spoiler button has no one manning it and we need employee to manage the troll, not volunteer. Then my suggestion is, create a report spoiler button (let readers 'vote' it) and the one who approve it were author/translator/editor. This can prevent misuses of the button for both readers and author themselves . Furthermore, we do not need to hire extra employees. Killing 2 birds with one stone I guess?

CKtalon I think if we simply hide the comment instead of deleting it, it wouldn't matter if it was an unmanned system. Just make it fully automated. And if it becomes an epidemic of too many hidden comments, well, I don't think that it's the worst problem in the world. If you want it manned, then allow the translators and editors to unflag the comments.

KoraL Yes, as I said, it's a request by the translators to implement this feature, but the developers have many bugs to fix as well. It would take some time for translators to be able to handle the comments, but it's already in the works.

The Community: "Hey WN, this guy is ruining it for everyone else"

                        WN:

The Community: "It's been happening for months! DO SOMETHING!"

WN: "meh. Stop feeding the trolls."

...is this an out-of-season April Fools joke?
