  • Tukang_Sampah Happens to novels here all the time. I’ve seen novels go 6 months without updating and suddenly start up again. There’s probably around 10 fairly popular novels that aren’t getting updated at any given time. WN never seems to care.

    • LilPotato Compare the ratings of novels between WN and NovelUpdates. Many NU novels that are 2 are 5 on WN. Even the very worst novel on WN is like 2.5 or 3* iirc.

    • Karyehs They delete fake reviews that are 1 star. 5 star reviews that are fake are never taken down. Sometimes they even delete real reviews that are 1 star. The content doesn’t matter to them, only the stars.

      • GegeSadewa Yes, it hasn’t been updated in 6 months. I think I remember the translator getting caught using google translate for it. Thankfully it isn’t a premium novel, though.

        • Eoneone Not sure you know what “free” means. Like, “Here’s a free book for $25 a month.”

          • There seems to be a lot of them. And it’s a problem. Sucks to be you if you pay for a book and can never finish it. Just out of my library I have a bunch, I was wondering if anyone had others. I have

Carefree Path of Dreams: 2 months no update then 1 chapter 12 days ago. I hear they’ve gotten a new translator for it. Hopefully that is correct.

Commanding Wind and Cloud: 3 months no update. This translator was very unreliable before getting premium. They had patreon and were always behind.

Monster Paradise: 1 month no update , although I believe this one is almost caught up to raws.

I Can Turn Into a Fish: no update for 1 month, then just recently updated 1 chapter. Too soon to tell if that’s going to be steady.

Gourmet of Another World: Not immediate cause for concern at only 8 days without update, but could be a signal of more of the same to come.

Chronicles of the Immortal God: premium original novel, 2 months ago the author took a 2 week break. The kicker is the notice that the author was taking the break was a premium chapter.

Ultimate Scheming System: This one is all good now, with new translators, but at one time went for 6+ months without updating. Just another showcase of the problem.

            • bet2z Oh, you can read 1 whole novel a year for free, how generous of them. Of course we expect them to keep making it more and more expensive, it’s why they’ve been going for all along. Ever since they explicitly said there was never going to be a paywall on their novels.

            • Yuki_Qing They do have some translated novels. Not just from Chinese, Korean, and Japanese, but also from Spanish, Russian, and others.

              • Reinesse RoyalRoad has staff check all submitted stories with a plagiarism checker. And they have procedures for verifying identity. They have a lot more stories than WN.

                • Reinesse I’d say it’s necessary. Other sites do it, why can’t this one? Might be nice instead of “We’ll only bother to take down stolen content off our site when legally forced to.” Kind of ironic with all the take down demands they send out themselves.

                  • Is there any sort of accountability process for when novels get submitted? I’m seeing more and more stolen novels posted in the originals, and it could easily be prevented by running the submissions through a plagiarism checker before allowing them on the site.

Kind of ironic coming from a company that regularly sends demands for others to take down their stuff.

                    • A ton of premium novels are getting either dropped or they just are updating super slowly (less than a chapter a month) probably due to translator problems. Sucks to all those readers who pay to read a book only to not be able to finish it. Sucks to be you I guess, but they’re not going to give anyone refunds lol

                    • Purplefairie Check your purchase history to make sure you actually paid for the chapters. Sometimes premium chapters are free for a week for an event or something, and then hey get relocked.

If you did buy them, they’ll give you a refund. The staff will try to say it never happens, but it does, so have pictures of the purchase history.

                      • Just read a novel and three of the characters where Yun Yi, Yun Yin, and Yun Ying.

                        • Just read a novel and three of the characters where Yun Yi, Yun Yin, and Yun Ying.

                          • Great, now you can pay ahead of time so when the novel you read gets dropped, you’ve already paid and you’re just out of luck!
