CKtalon Well, one of them would be Imperfectluck. He uses 'senpai' & 'junior'. If he's going with 'senpai', then why's he not using 'kouhai'. Another thing, he keeps on using 'missus' while referring to young ladies for some reason. Those ladies aren't married. I've pointed it out to him but I don't know if he's changed that or not

CKtalon i have no problem when japanese characters in chinese novel use their own prefix, but some translators like the translator for that novel that has the main characters from other popular series use senpai. There is that red haired chick that keeps calling the mc senpai. I remember seeing it and just hitting the wall. As for chakra, it is from japanese lore not Chinese, no Chinese novel has chakra they have Qi or something else the writer came up with. The novel that uses chi and chakra is strongest abandoned son, most xianxia terms are google translated and of course the infamous fetus stage... its just creepy af.

Many translators do use Indian/Sanskrit terms in their translations due to the cultures shared between ancient China and India, and those terms actually are Chinese loanwords from Sanskrit, so when we translate them back, we use the Sanskrit version. For example,
地藏 = Kṣitigarbha
摩诃 = Mahākāśyapa
Just because you first encountered it in Japanese culture doesn't mean it stemmed Japan as it also received Buddhist influence, with Chinese aspects of it spread to them too.
Sorry, but the "pill<dantian" makes 0 sense whatsoever. Do characters create dantians? No; dantians are qi focus points in the body. Pills are, well, pills lol.

I remembered reading novel with 'senpai' I was shocked I needed to visit the main page to see if I'm reading a JP/CN novel (I think its in HN1F ). Then the 'infant' stage I was left with WTF? i thought he was 21?! How come he's now in infant stage?! Then I connected the dots, ohhhh he's in nascent soul stage
Supreme_Idler No, he probably meant pill>dan. Dan can mean pill, it can also mean core (jindan<golden core). There are probably other meanings as well but these are the ones mostly used in webnovels.
Maybe I'm just that weird person...? Seeing Infant state confused me at first, but it made sense (somewhat, state should be stage but infant seems fine). Infant as in, the start for the rest of the stages. It's been a long time since I reads the novels with Infant stages, but I think it's the one right after Foundation Building/Foundational right? So if Qi Gathering/Meridian Opening and Foundationalare the foundations for one's cultivation, then stepping into Infant makes some sense. Seeing as you've laid the bricks and paved the path, now you can start building on top of that, resulting in a starting point almost.
Of course, I'd still prefer seeing Nascent used as it's what many, including me, are most familiar and comfortable with. Just wanted to point he Infant stage part out because I don't see it being very creepy as I've been seeing.
(If I made any mistakes in the stage names please forgive and correct me, it's been a long time since I've seen those early ones. Also would be glad to have someone point out where exactly the creepiness for Infant stage is.)
Chakra is very popular in jp literature hence why i said that its mostly used in jp novels and not in Chinese ones. As for pill dantian comments, there are some novel that translated dantian as a pill and i remember talking to the translator about it on discord he told me its how he likes to translate it. I read so many novels at the same time i can hardly remember all the ones i dropped.
Retribution the creepy part is the fetus stage, while infant stage sounds stupid.
Pizza trust me... i rather have all these new translators use pinyin instead, but they make up new words mostly by giving a literal translation like dantian is a pill.
