Guys, I will no longer accept requests for personal reasons! However, I will still provide reviews for original novels I come across, that I find interesting. I am still a permanent editor for the novels below and I will try my best to finish requests that I have received. If you have a question, feel free me to contact me. Greetings! My name is Bai Qiuyue. Qiu / 秋 for autumn and Yue / 月 for moon.
I had another post here for only romance novels, but since things were slow, that's now closed and I am accepting requests for all genres. I am an avid reader of both translated and original novels. However, I have only started to become more active in the community recently. I enjoy writing poems and stories, but I am not planning on publishing anything on webnovel for now.
As the title says, I am offering free service for editing and reviewing original novels. I will warn you, I am an amateur in editing so if you are looking for an expert you've come to the wrong place...or post in this case. If you are still interested in requesting my services, then please continue to read the bulletins below.
General Requirements
- If you want me to accept your request, your novel should have a summary and a cover, and have at least 10+ chapters published. I have the right to decline any requests. Unfortunately, I can't accept everyone.
- If I do accept your request, I will like your post. You will see this in your notifications, next to your username on the top right corner.
- I will reject all requests posted when my status above says closed. I will also reject all requests that do not have the 'request form' filled out. When filling out the form, please don't extra information. Only the information stated is required.
- For all requests, you can either post here, send me an e-mail or ask on my discord (with the request form).
- Those who request for the first time will have priority, when deciding to accept requests. This is to be fair to new requests.
Review Requirements
- I will review only 5 novels twice a week. This will change to once a week, once I get the hang of this.
- My reviews will be straightforward, so if you aren't looking for that, then please don't request. I don't want you to get angry and then gather a mob to come after me... :sweat_smile: It will include my personal opinions about the plot, writing quality, setting, and characters.
- When you request a review, I will read your novel from the beginning until your current chapter. Unless you want me to review a specific chapter or chapters. If it's the whole novel, it'll take a while for me to write your review depending on how many chapters you have out.
- Second requests for reviews can be requested but only if you have 30+ chapters after your last request.
- If I don't reach the limit of 5 novels to review every two weeks, I will pick novels that interest me to review.
Editing Requirements
- Permanent Editor - I will only accept 3 novels for now. I will carefully consider all requests for a permanent editor. Status: Unavailable Until Further Notice
- Temporary Editor - I will accept a request to edit individual chapters. My limit is 20 chapters twice a week, maximum of 5 chapters from each Author. This means, if you want me to edit your chapters again after two weeks, you'll have to quickly request again before I reach my limit.
- I will edit your chapters to the best of my ability and respect your choices. But please remember what I stated above, I am not an expert. I am doing this to gain experience and to also lend a helping hand to Authors.
- You, as the property owner, have the right to decline any changes I make to your chapter.
- I accept trials. Meaning, if you aren't satisfied with my editing, then you can, of course, reject me (though I'll be heartbroken xD).
- Please properly credit me for the work I do. For a Temporary Edit, your credit needs to include my name at the end of each chapter I have edited. For Permanent Editor, you need to have my name, including e-mail or discord link/tag in your synopsis.

Editing Part 2 - The Three Cs
My editing process has three layers, which are the three Cs. Content edit, communication edit, and copy edit. When requesting for editing, make sure you let me know if you only want one or two layers or all three.
1st Layer – Content Edit
- Repetition of words and phrases
- Inconsistency
- Missed or skipped parts
- Contradictions
- Run-on sentences
- Rhythm and pacing
2nd Layer – Communication Edit
This is where I will share my opinions and ideas on what you can change or add. I will not make direct changes to the chapter but will add personal comments or point out references to use for inspiration.
- What I think about the chapter as a reader.
- What the key point/theme of the chapter is.
- What contribution does this chapter make to the overall story?
- Did this chapter change any of your previous ideas?
3rd Layer – Copy Edit
- Grammar
- Spelling
- Punctuation
- Syntax
- Capitalization
- Tense agreement
- Word usage
