The prices you are asking is the issue, most people do not mind paying, but why should I pay for your novel over ISSTH? Is it on the same level. Maybe yours is, but in general, most novels here are not. Which is why people have these issues.

Also, your writing is not on the level of works like harry potter etc, so charing simular prizes is why people are upset.

Author's don't decide the price of Spirit Stones, they just do what they do best, writing.

It's the site that counts every 200 words as 1 Spirit Stone, so unless you want 200 word chapters everyday, your best bet is to suck it up and stop whining.

Don't want to conform to the monetary system? Leave, s1mple as that. No need to say the exact same thing everyone else says when they 'leave'(most of these people eventually come back to find new novels to read) the site.

And talking about prices, the monthly suscription is 25$, yeah 25$ to read some shitty novels ( we all know that 98% of novels in this site are complete garbage), and with 10$ you only get 500 SS, for every locked chapter you have to pay 12-20+ SS, that's aroun 0,25$ for a chapter, let say you read a single novels, with 2 daily chapters, you'll have to pay : 0,25×2×30(days)=15$.
15$ to read a single novel, 120% rip off, I'd better go spend my time watching netflix with a low monthly suscription and unlimited* content...

Author's, in general, decide the price of their content.

      Nice bypassing the system...

Also, Fuck off with your shutting me up mindset just because I do not agree with you.

Have you seen webnovel staff complain about people's viewpoints no? Then STFU.

Do they listen to us? Maybe their price for the subscription is high, but honestly it is better than what we had before.

While I personally, do not think the price is set correctly, they are the people with the Raw Data, and if it set up similar to how Amazon is, I think the overall system might be pretty good.

I had made a post about before it was a thing, so people like me and whoever else you decide to diss help give web novel new ideas.

Hey everyone, this guy says he is leaving! Yeah... no one cares. Most of the novels are garbage, not worth the storage space they take on my virtual memory, so you don't really need that many spirit stones. Now if you want to read garbage then you have to learn to deal with the stink.

KrampusHD I agree. What I hated most was that they don't contract most authors and expected them to write for free. I feel this is wrong on so many levels.

I can't say I like the pirated sites. It was actually the main reason I quit publishing on WN. I asked for WN to help me, but they didn't/ said they couldn't because I wasn't contracted with them. The whole situation made me cry and become upset. I almost quit writing. I since moved to a Patreon only model, but still release daily free chapters.

If anyone is even wondering who the hell I am, I am the author of Macha's Journey. For the older members, you probably remember me. I'm doing well and still doing my daily chapters! :) I just decided to log on the forums and see what's up.

BabyTanuki They can't help you because YOU are the copyright holder... They literally do not have the right to help you.

CKtalon Yes. I went over that with you guys already. TY. Zzzzz......... Either way, it wasn't something I wanted to deal with on this site. Write for free, not get contracted or paid, etc. Not worth the headache. Although I understand as a person employed by WN, you must moderate the forums and read posts like this one.

Subscription price is too damn high to even consider it atm.

                  BabyTanuki
Didn't Macha's Journey use to be fairly popular? If so, then you could have applied for a contract through Discord. That's what I did after entering the top 50 in the rankings. Granted, ranking doesn't guarantee anything.

Unfortunately, piracy will always be an issue for easily-accessible goods like novels. Same goes for similar media like comics, movies, and video games. If a novel is ever pirated, all the copyright holder can really do is send a DMCA to have it taken down, which isn't a particularly tedious or troublesome thing to do. However, most piracy sites are hosted in obscure countries where it either isn't illegal or the creators of the pirate sites just don't care, so the DMCA will often accomplish nothing.

If it makes you feel any better, the fact that your book was free to begin with means that very few people were likely reading it on the pirate sites since they would likely be aware of it being free on the original platform. Also, most pirates aren't willing to pay for content in the first place, so it's a bit debatable whether it would really result in lost income or not. I know from experience though that it definitely doesn't feel good having your hard work stolen.

Ultimately, the best solution to piracy is usually ease of access to goods. That's why Steam killed most video game pirating and Netflix killed most movie pirating. Unfortunately, new platforms are starting to compete with these two services, resulting in fragmented services that divide up content, which is inconvenient for users. I imagine we'll start seeing a steady increase in movie and video game pirating over the next decade as a result. And so continues the ever ongoing war of piracy vs ease of access for the consumer >.>

CKtalon damn. I always thought you to be a moderator. What novel are you translating?

lol, go ahead and fvckin' complain. i hope wn blocks your ip address, see if you can create a new account by then.

SnoozySloth Yeah, it was pretty popular. I know I could have approached WN about a contract, but I personally didn't want because I felt it was "cheating." I wanted them to approach me if they thought my content was a fit for their website (In no way do I think poorly or less of those who did it that way though). It's fine though. The whole pirating thing made me work towards doing a Patreon like I was intending to do for a few months before that.

I'm glad you got a contract btw. Grats! A lot of people I know did that or they are moving to that new Moonquill website. I personally have not. I'm not sure now if online publishing is for me. I continue to do my daily publish for fun and to improve, but I will probably go to a publisher after I'm done and re-edit everything.

I don't usually reply to comments, but it seems you have the wrong idea with the message I meant to send across.

I'll break down my explanations/answers in their respective areas.

                        1. Author's, in general, decide the price of their content.
(This misunderstanding was my fault. Yes, generally, authors decide the price of their content, but I repeat another one of my points in response to that; unless you want 200< word chapters so you can have cheaper spirit stone prices, please get used to higher prices. Don't be selfish, even if you're irritated by the prices, remember Authors spend their own free time writing chapters, no matter how bad the quality. What do you stand to lose? Just wait a day and you can used FREE spirit stones to unlock chapters. It's not compulsory to spend your own money, the only thing you're spending is patience.)

                        2. Nice bypassing the system...
(What? Correct me if I'm wrong, because I don't understand. Do you mean that authors who write 2000+ words chapters are actually cheating the system for greed, and not because they actually want to show the fruits of their labour to their loyal readers?)

                        3. Also, Fuck off with your shutting me up mindset just because I do not agree with you.
(No where in my reply did I say I state my stand on your message. I didn't agree nor disagree. I simply explained the online currency system and told you that if you didn't like it, you don't have to complain before leaving the site.)

                        4. Have you seen webnovel staff complain about people's viewpoints no? Then STFU.
(What does webnovel staff complaining about people's viewpoints got to do with what I said? Also, I did not speak, I typed, so technically speaking, I can't STFU.)

                        5. Do they listen to us? Maybe their price for the subscription is high, but honestly it is better than what we had before.
(Again, what's this got to do with what I said? Who's listening, did I mention the subscription price or say it was better or worse?)

                        6. While I personally, do not think the price is set correctly, they are the people with the Raw Data, and if it set up similar to how Amazon is, I think the overall system might be pretty good.
(Okay, are you even replying to my comment now? When the heck did I say the price was set correctly or not. As for the Amazon system, books on amazon are usually the whole book at once. Do you mean to say you rather wait for an author to complete their novel then buy it at a set price? Because Webnovels are different. Their format is in a way that, in theory, never has to end. Have you seen 2000+ chapters xianxia novels?)

                        7. I had made a post about before it was a thing, so people like me and whoever else you decide to diss help give web novel new ideas.
(Okay? Did you want me to reply to your past post rather than this one? Sorry, for stating my opinions on your post, or as you call it, 'dissing'.)

I've answered all your points with as much clarity as I can in my haze-induced mind. I won't be replying to later comments because I feel I've made my point already.
