Reccomendation Game

(Or, if you’re not keen on playing the game, feel free to post your own stories, and I’ll probably take a look~)

How To Play:

Reccomend an original story by posting its link and/or comment why you think it’s good, too.

1 reccomendation story link = 1point

1 reccomendation comment = 1 point

Read a previous poster’s recommendation and comment = 3 points

Optional - TAG @ someone to read and comment on the story you reccomended.

Tagged person reads story recommendation and comments = 5 points

Tagged person doesn’t read and comment by week of being tagged = -5 points

Who knows the original section the best?

The person who gets the most points gets... bragging rights, idk.

A review maybe? Or a story cover? I’m not too shabby at editing. 😂 It’s not set in stone whether there’ll be any prizes or not. You tell me~

I’ll keep a running total of points here I guess, for bragging rights. shrugs shoulders

Chryiss This should have been what the promoting currently is. However, you are right when you said your first post scared everyone. I didn't understand a single thing before seeing an example. Unfortunately, you are also forcing people to actually "read" the other novels. 95% of the "authors" just promote without repaying the favor. Therefore, it is doomed to fail. Still, a very good initiative.
As for me, I never promoted once my novel and feel that it is useless. But I can only complain about the number of threads that are created just for the sake of one petty author that want to promote their works. Without even checking the 5 or 6 already created with over 1k posts in them. At the same time, I dislike having another author judging my novel. Who are they for having that privilege? Readers can, because they are impartial, but authors are not. At the same time, I already had to deal with another "author" that felt above me and criticize my novel for no reason. Just wanting to lower it because he didn't like it (probably inferiority complex). While this author couldn't even manage to write 20 chapters before dropping it.
Anyway, I like to complain a bit too much. Have a good day.

Innovation aren't authors readers though? how can you be an author without reading first?
I think that authors can actually provide valuable feedback that readers can't because they understand how the writing process is. criticism is good.

Chryiss Hey, thanks for the mention. Can you make this game a tiny bit easier to understand? How about making a game of tag. If someone reviews your novel on the list of author's in the game, then they are it, and will have bad luck until they review another person's novel on the list?

< Best idea I can think of.
    The Karmic Author Game?

Innovation I got one starred by an author who for whatever reason thought my novel was funny, and at the same time it was a sack of sh!t. I have a feeling if he didn't have a similar novel to mine, he would've loved it. Bias is real, and I agree with you my friend, IMO they should remove one star reviews immediately, and make the lowest 3 stars because its becoming troll city on this website.

Innovation Thanks for the feedback. I definitely could’ve shortened the game explanation. That’s why I consigned myself in the end to just recommend stories and delete the thread when I’m tired of recommending on my own.

As for having a privilege to judge others novels, I don’t believe judging is a privilege; it’s just what everyone does. People might write nonsensical things, but that obviously doesn’t mean they’re right (or anyone else wrong for that matter). We are essentially putting up our writing for others to see, so it doesn’t matter whether that is an author or reader.

Also, it’s not just authors recommending. It’s anyone can recommend something, even if it’s not their writing. The forcing to read is on purpose since I stated that simply posting as a self promo does very little. I feel like there aren’t enough actual recommendations of stories by readers themselves.

DragonTreasures Tag, that’s a cute idea. But the reason why I only said to comment on a chapter was because a review takes more effort.

I’ll simplify the game, but in the end, if that still doesn’t get recommendations from others going, it’s ok.

Chryiss Based on your first post, l started reading your book and also dotted a few points but since I didn't understand this game thingy I was planning to just send them to you through a review or a comment on a chapter itself.
But now that I saw a few examples I think I'll just send them here soon.

          Changed game format, any thoughts?

          I really want to play a game I suppose~ :p

That thread didn’t say that the other person would swap reading or reviews (I haven’t gotten anything and that’s ok, I didn’t ask for it/went in knowing that when I accepted the requests). But thanks for the unexpected feedback!

I was pretty brief on my comments, so I can always go more in depth if you‘d like.

Deleted their original posts and moved the recommendations here.

Umm, I guess this wasn’t clear enough, but since everyone can post any story without restriction, that includes self-promotions too. If no one else comments, I’m always looking for a good story, so I’ll probably read it.

My recommendation: https://www.webnovel.com/book/13133894505806605 It's not the most serious novel, nor does it need to be, and is great if you want a laugh every once in a while.

On the one directly above, a little nervous trying books about marriage, but it's worth a shot.

Thanks for the rec by the way.
