  • usually with writer's block, it's not uncommon or bad to focus on something else before you continue to write. I mean you're staring at the same story constantly that, at a certain point, you'll become sort of desensitized/used to what you're seeing that you can't think of anything more.

taking a break is a good way to just cool your head off and a good opportunity to come back in a different perspective.

I've heard that, when you're struggling to write the next scene or what not, that it's usually a problem with the writing leading up to it. Maybe a specific way a certain sentence is phrased or such, so I suggest going back to those earlier chapters and changing up what you need to. No harm in changing the story if it'll help it flow better later on.

  • decided to pop in and say hi and welcome!
Can't wait to see what sort of tips you'll come up with :3

    • Just wanna pop in and give my two cents about the matter.
Coming from a background of writing on other sites (like wattpad and quotev)
can I just say that I'm both impressed and weary over the magnitude of updating on this site? I think it's quite amazing that everyone's pushing for like 1000 words daily or even more.
and the fact that apparently updating more than once per-day is also common is also baffling
maybe it's because things are more professional/stricter on here than other sites, but I just wanna say good on everyone for doing these things. And I have to sympathize more towards the writers because accomplishing that many words per day is quite a feat compared to what I'm used to.
you could imagine my surprise when I see people's standards for books having 100 or even 200+ chapters before they read it.
I agree with what people said so far on the forum and I guess I'll just reiterate it
Please give writers the breathing space to do their work and if you want to show support, mayhaps phrase it differently besides the usual "UPDATES NOW OR ELSE".
And writers, honestly take a break if you can.

I'm gonna join in on this. I don't usually like the common genres of books on the site so hopefully I'll be able to find a few off-beat ones here. Anyway, I'm going to do two of mine if that's okay

      First one: https://www.webnovel.com/book/11799717406527805/book-3-Years-Later
Based 3 years after the zombie out break. It follows the story of a girl who struggles to make sense of what's left of the world and trying to fill the gaps in her memory before she succumbs to the harsh reality she lives in. There are themes of identity loss, conflicting morality, cruelty and, of course, gore.
I'm starting book 2 now so I would love to have a review.

      Second: https://www.webnovel.com/book/11237922105308805/Input-Log-Dates
A collection of stories, ranging from log-dates to audio transcripts, about residents trying to survive the strange occurrences in the world they are placed in. Each volume is different but from the same world so feel free choose any volume to start on. There's alot of chapters but each one is very short, do note that some chapters try to emulate computer glitching so the writing may end up weird.

I honestly love long winded and constructive reviews (also because I tend to do this as well). I don't see a point in really short and all most kiss-uppy types of reviews that give the author no way to tell if what they are writing have actually have an impact/what they could improve upon. A good writer should be able to take criticism and use it to better their books. Not try and give a false advertisement of what their book really is by hiding the bad reviews.

I'll give my two books, feel free to review on either of them.

        first one: https://www.webnovel.com/book/11799717406527805/book-3-Years-Later
it's about a girl struggling to fill in the gaps of her memory and having to cope with a decaying world. (I'm gonna be starting book 2 soon so I'd love your opinion on this on)

        second one: https://www.webnovel.com/book/11237922105308805/Input-Log-Dates
A collection of stories about people trying to survive and make sense of what's happening to them. (much longer but you can start at any volume)

      • The reviews do help out but it's often hard to get them in the first place.
If you can stand it, I suggest doing review swaps when you can and coming back to the forums to promote your book when possible.

        • Hi! I thought I'd join in.
My books are more on the horror/thriller side but I would love it'd you try it out. I'd suggest the first one if you want a more classic/traditional book.

          https://www.webnovel.com/book/11799717406527805/book-3-Years-Later
Set 3 years after the zombie outbreak, you follow one girl's story of trying to make sense of the reality around her and to fill the gaps in her memory before it over takes her.
If you're in for gore and drama, this is for you.

          https://www.webnovel.com/book/11237922105308805/Input-Log-Dates
A collection of strange occurrences and people trying to make sense of the world they were placed in and survive.
Feel free to start at any volume, each volume is a different story but same world.
If you're in to wade through mysteries and log dates, feel free to read on
(be warned there is alot of chapters that try to emulate computer glitches so a lot of things look unpolished for a reason)

          • _Sha
            oh okay!
I've added your book to my library and will review asap

feel free to pick either one
            First book: Input logdates
            Second book: 3 years later

            • Gonna join in too!
I'm just gonna do two, hope you don't mind. Pick whichever is the most interesting

              book one: https://www.webnovel.com/book/11237922105308805/Input-Log-Dates
A collection of strange occurrences and a deep need for survival.
A book which each volume has no connection, and yet it does.
If you find the courage to wade through the mystery and collect the pieces of the puzzle, you might be able to see the truth of it all.

              Book two: https://www.webnovel.com/book/11799717406527805/book-3-Years-Later
Set 3 years after the zombie apocalypse
You follow one girl's story of trying to make sense of the reality around her and to fill the gaps in her memory before it takes over her.

              • I thought I'd add mine into the mix. Hope you don't mind two, just pick whichever one you feel is more interesting.
                Thank you!

                        I don't think it's a singular god nor do I think it's nothing.

I just find it hard to believe that there is some sort of singular god out there when the books we are to supposedly read off of is made of very vague and very abstract words. Not only that, there is too many differences and not to mention version of the very same book that exhibits a different sort of 'god' despite it supposedly being the same god. Not to mention the fact that we also have to trust in the inferences of a few choice men who can easily twist and interpret these abstract words to push an agenda.

Maybe there's something that isn't all omniscient and something more simple. It's hard to say since there isn't much to go off in terms of solid evidence of things that existed before the big bang. Maybe with more time, science and technology would be able to explain what was created for life to happen but for now nothing.

However, people are entitled to believe what they will if it helps them with motivation to continue life and such.

                      • I think it depends on how you do it and how much he likes you back.

But to be fair, double check if you can have workplace relationships (most places to my understanding don't).

As well as double check if this guy likes you back. If you get an inkling that he doesn't then maybe don't ask him? Idk, but I'd feel awkward having to go back to work knowing that this guy knows I like him theoretically. Or other way around, he might feel awkward knowing someone at work likes him.

I don't think you will lose your job if he accepts the offer or rejects you. I mean as long as you're polite and don't just bombastically ask him out.

I don't mean for this to make you feel bad, at the end of the day it's up to you as to what you do.

just my two cents but damn this is long. My b.

                      • here's two of mine:

                        https://www.webnovel.com/book/11237922105308805/Input-Log-Dates
it's a horror book where you don't need to read each volume in order. Also if you like wading through mystery and looking at old computer log files this is your pick.

                        https://www.webnovel.com/book/11799717406527805/book-3-Years-Later
good ol zombie horror with no censor on the gore. Also with a side of identity and psychological issues cause that's just what happens in this book.

                        • gonna sound a bit corny here so bare with me, but here's my advice:

                          just write

Yes having structure is good but sometimes fussing too much about the details and how it'll go might prevent you from starting. So just start. If you have an inkling of what you want to write then just go ahead and write. See where it takes you. You don't even need to have the beginning or middle or end. Sometimes even just an image would be good enough to start. Then once that's done. Fine tune it. Reread and change it. It's okay if you scrap entire paragraph's or chapters worth. Or hell, rewrite the entire novel. See what you like and cut whatever else you don't.

So just go ahead and write idea in your head. Take your time and just see where it takes you.
