In a sentence, it's a video game world from an NPC's perspective, where players and NPCs interpret events very differently.
Synopsis:
In the world of New Dawn, the citizens seem to be suffering a divine punishment of some sort.
The monsters that plague them are worse then devils, demons, or depraved criminals.
The devils have their own twisted morality, demons are not intrinsically bad—they're just above humans in the food chain—and depraved could can at least be killed.
The undying, capricious monsters kill anything and everything, devouring all in their sights like a swarm of locusts. What's more, the lords and kings who should be protecting them seem to be working with these monsters.
When all seems lost, it falls to a young boy to save his people from these monsters… from the players.

Awesome_Blossom Thanks! I basically set up the plot on the spot with the synopsis, and it ended up being darker than expected with a seemingly silly plot like this. It’s kinda fun writing with no premade plan. XD
I edited it using a free image and mainly changed the tree into a different one through brushes, overlays, and some minor drawing. The original was too scrawny to me, almost leafless. Then I slapped on a few layers of titles, effects, and such.
Chryiss Nice. Looks really well made. You probably can continue writing on it even after the contest since the synopsis does sound interesting.
