ok so every xianxia and xuanhuan is broken because if u follow every book it would point out that the main character Is getting stronger and in the process ends up fighting every fucking clan in the god damn universe. JUST FUCKING STOP!!!! If so every imortal cultivator would fucking die. He would get stronger get revenge new fucking stupid ass name for realm higher pops the fuck up. Ah need to get stronger again wins and and king stupid fucker appears he gets stronger wins supreme stupid fucker pops up. Where the fuck did all these realms pop up from. Why does the MC not have an ancestor in some super realm but every stupid antagonist left and right does. Next if it's one where he is in a big clan he happens to be the trash every time and gets kicked out yet every enemy clan he runs into just happens to love and have no trash in their clans. No not possible in reality going by this setup immortals would all kill each other and there could only ever be one at a time. Because they would constantly kill in revenge and don't say no cause if some one killed your wife u would definitely kill that guy going by light novel rules.
ALL ON THE PATH OF CULTIVATION WOULD DIE
GldnApplImortality my guess would be MC trampling the world gets clicks/readership/monthlt vote. just look around comments here . its same on other sites. it seems young people who are into chinese LN/WN are same every where !
GldnApplImortality
Well that's........ True..... Oh....
GldnApplImortality Don’t curse please. Many youngsters are here, ya know?
GldnApplImortality I mean, I'm sure someone could recommend an NTR novel for you, to reduce how OP an MC is... I don't really know why generic stories are popular...
GldnApplImortality If the mc's were peace loving hippies. Then the readers would probably get annoyed quick and it wouldn't really be a popular novel otherwise. Look at the power ranking for example and tell me one novel with an MC who doesn't fight.
Neverfire7 @Luta probably could.
He'd deviate and die from sadness

Cultivation is all about fighting unless the MC is a Daoist that believes in peace? That would be a tragic short story.
To me, cultivation is about going against something. To get stronger you need to kill and that is where human nature comes into play and it is at this moment that the story gets extended into 1 book, 2 books and so on. You kill my wife, i kill you! you rp my sister? I kill you and your family... and etc.... All these fascinates the reader as they will be engrossed into it and be a part of the story. However, if this human nature is out.... then its like robots. and it will be a short story. Example:Robot 1: I killed your mother! Robot 2 (MC): Okay. Now, my program says I need to feel pain but... I am a robot. So, lets move on... Sorry it is lame but I hope you get the idea xD
Also, the authors writing about cultivation and fighting and leveling up and realms is because it appeals to the audience. If the general audience did not like it, then the authors will generally change how they write. But looking at all the novels I read. It is like how you described it!
Also, regarding the realms. I find it to be super cool as there are always something more out there in the cultivation world. It is like an RPG. You level up and kill those bosses. Then you finish the level or world to enter into a different world or level. I see them as the same xD The only difference is the human nature.
When you talked about those big clan thingy... Well, it is hard to start something totally different. They need to make it as realistic as possible and set the scenario in a way that sets the world. Therefore I assume that you think of them as kind of generic which is true but if you noticed, usually the clan of the MC or his family will play a role in his 'becoming of age'.
to conclude, if you removed the leveling up, realms, cultivation and those generic openings.... I think that it will be super hard to write a novel that will cater to the audience xD Sorry for being long winded
