Do you listen to anything as you write? Or do you prefer writing in complete silence?

I used to prefer writing in complete silence, but I rediscovered some playlists I've saved when I was younger and it really brings me into the mood of my story. For authors of different genre's, it would be great if yall could drop your favorite playlists/soundtracks!

    Aha I do indeed have a playlist of some songs, but I have been to lazy to put the rest on there XD.

      chonnie Sometimes I do listen to music to write, but usally for only one loop of the “playlist.” Then I continue in silence once the inspiration and motivation kicks in. Otherwise, I might get distracted be the music. XD Rarely K-pop, generally piano versions of them. Usually Studio Ghibli soundtracks (also often piano versions) as it brings out my childhood and nostalgia the best, making me want to write because I remember the great storyteller Miyazaki was. Otherwise, sometimes just listening to rain sounds using Rainymood.com. Pluviophile here. XD

        I have this one playlist on Spotify where I have added any random song I like at any given point in time. It has grown massive, but I usually listen to it when working. It is everything from Billy Joel to Queen, and from Queen to Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix. It even got Ed Sheeran and Adele.

        I do not work very well if I do not have some sort of background noise going, either music or the tv. I find it quite odd, but if there is too silent, then I simply cannot focus on getting anything done, my thoughts just cluster and become one tangled mess.

        BTS for action scenes. :thinking: although their new song helped me write the new To Like A Man post.

        Wagaki Band, Day 6 and some swinging jazz helped write Zaldizko.

        I prefer the sound of the television as a background sound, or the sound of the cars passing by the street. This is the sound of urban nature

          Actually, the sound of passing cars at night combined with a fan and open windows near a beach is a great combo for sleeping~ >u<
