  • B2dermawan The price of a chapter depends on the length of the chapter.
Each 200 words equals one coin.
    so,
    1-200 words = 1 coin
    201-400 words = 2 coins
    401-600 words = 3 coins
and so on. So the reason that the price is higher, is due to the fact that these chapters are longer.

My worry is, that if a part of the text is copyable, then they might just make bots which will then copy a part each, and eventually add it together.

It makes sense that one could maybe copy the author note, as that one would not matter much, or the comments.

I am not sure if this is the case, but there is a limit to the amount of books one can create. If you have reached the limit, then I am not sure how to continue creating books.

If not for the sake of having written too many novels, then I would contact a content editor and ask for help. You can find them on Inkstone's discord.

Hmm, what I am about to write is my personal opinion and it is solely based on personal experience.

Self-publishing has grown massively during the last couple of years. When I published my first book on Amazon in 2016, there were not nearly as many new releases as there are now. However, this is not a bad thing. While it does bring more competition, it also brings more readers to the genres that are being written.

While it is true that when you are self-published everything depends on your own ability to promote, but this also means that you are in control of everything, and if it does not work out, you only have yourself to blame.

AMS is a great feature, and there are many other options for promoting your books, it is just a question about sitting down and actually understanding the market.

Even if you are traditionally published, which I also have a book which has been, it does not mean that the publishers will do a lot to market your book. The publisher's house has a lot of new books, and they will not give all of them an equal amount of attention and funds to promote. Even there it depends a lot on your own effort.

After experiencing both traditional publishing and self-publishing, I for one, know that self-publishing is much more to my liking. I have full control over everything and I am also able to make the decisions.

There are many ways of getting promotions now, and many indie authors are doing very well. In fact, I found that many indie authors are doing better than many traditional authors. They do not have to share as big a percentage of the royalties and they have more control over their own projects. I see self-publishing as the future of publishing.

          • This would be abused by aggregator sites.

While some has been capable of working around the non-copying aspect, others have not. If it was able to copy the text, then there would be many more aggregator sites, and many would no longer pay to read what they enjoy. When no one pays, the translation/writing will be stopped, as the author/translator will not be able to go on.

It is a bad spiral for the entire industry, so while it is somewhat frustrating being unable to copy text, it is better than not having any text to read.

            • Luna_1101 Contact the Editor. They should be able to help you in such a situation.

                The name somewhat explains it.

Exclusive - It is exclusive, but you get paid more from Webnovel.
Non-exclusive - it is non-exclusive but your royalty share is lower.

You should be able to read the contracts prior to signing them, they will tell you of every obligation and responsibility that is connected to each contract.

                • StarLight0012

You earn more percentage of the pay earned through Webnovel if you were to sign an exclusive contract, however you pretty much give away all rights to the novel, and Webnovel will be your only source of revenue.

With the nonexclusive contract, you will earn a smaller percentage of the royalties, but you will retain the rights. The contract provider also works with other platforms, so your novel will be spread to other readers.

Personally, I picked the nonexclusive for the majority of my novels, as I am not willing to take them down from Amazon for the sake of a contract on Webnovel.

                • Val_Ex

Well, they will not become free, but they will be available for unlocking like any other chapter.
The privilege is a list of x amount of chapters. So when the translator/author releases a new chapter and pushes it into the privilege list, the lowest-ranked chapter in privilege will be pushed out, hence that one will be unlockable by those who does not purchase privilege.

                  • I do not completely agree that a contract does not matter.
Non-exclusive means that the amount you earn from there is just one of the revenue sources. You can always add more later, and even the non-exclusive contract providers are looking to add more platforms.
It is true that the % of royalties you are paid is less, but with the exclusive, you sign over your novel indefinitely. You will never be able to sell on Amazon, or on other sites for that matter. Even if you earn $200 a month the first four months, what will you do afterward? Also, you have to write 1.5k a day, every day, to get the $200. If you miss one day, you miss the MGS for that month, as far as I understood.
I have both exclusive and non-exclusive contracts. I am not against either of them, but I do prefer the non-exclusive as it gives some more freedom.

                    • Scripture02

Oh, I love this genre! When talking cultivation and romance, I do prefer a female lead most of the time, as they focus more on the romance aspect than the male lead ones.

Okay, this is just the first few in my library, if you want more suggestions, I would love to share more with you :D It is one of my absolute favorite genres.

                      • CoolForniteplayer Events are created by Webnovel. You cannot make events. If your novel becomes popular enough, then an event can be held, but otherwise, I do not think they are willing to use the resources to do so. Maybe you can contact them to ask whether or not they are willing to make one, if you sponsor the prizes and all expenses, but I am not sure if such a move is worth it, and I am not even aware if Webnovel would even consider it

                      • CoolForniteplayer

I heard that if you write a Chinese character in the novel name/title, it will be hidden from your profile. I am not too certain as to the truth of this, but you can always try?

                        • Alessio_Vecchio

I think they are still setting it up. Yesterday the icon had another name and was sat as sold out. I believe they will introduce it soon. This is purely my assumption though.

In the app, if you go to the "Featured" tap, there is at the top an option to click on "Vote" with a mark that looks like the energy stone.
That will take you to the trial reads. When you reach the trial reads, there is next to it an option to click on "Voting Pool" where you can use your energy stones on whichever story you wish to see released first.

I am not sure about that, I have not had a month where the pay was below $200. But I assume that the contract should explain how long they can hold out for, in case the transfer is too low.

                            • Bella_Moondragon

Sharestory is the website where you have to upload your story when you have signed a non-exclusive contract.
It is a website that is being used by EMP Publishing, and AnD Publishing, which are the two companies that make the non-exclusive contract.
EMP and AnD are not Webnovel. They are different companies, however, they have an agreement/contract with Webnovel, which allows for the novels to be hosted on Webnovel in exchange for royalty share.
They are not only working with Webnovel but also other platforms.
It is not a scam. While it is up to the individual whether or not they are willing to sign the contract, they do honor their part of the agreement. It is a legally binding document after all, so just make sure to read and understand what you sign, then it should be fine.
I just want to point out, I have been paid in a timely manner from my non-exclusive contract, and they have always been extremely polite and helpful. I would not consider it a scam.
