7 to 18 ss a chapter seems a bit extreme to me
if its a finshed translation a 1000+ chapters
then quickly becomes extreamly expensive
200 dollars plus to read a book
edit
12.5 ss average for a chapter
example
way of choices 83 free chapters 1187 total chapters
12.5 ¤ 1104 = 13800 ss
2500 ss = 50 dollars
2500 / 13800 = 5.52
325 dollars more or less

Yes that's the reality of it. With that amount of money you can get more then a single professionally written book lol. And completed at that

Hmm, 1000 chapters. We're talking over a million (admittedly sloppily written) words. So that's ten normal books.

If we assume a flat rate of 10 bucks per book that's $100. That's, I guess, the rock bottom.

As soon as the average chapter here is over 1k words we need to add more normal books to make the comparison.

In the end I'll argue that webnovel is just distinctly more expensive rather than extremely so. Obviously assuming that the numbers the OP gave are correct.

StenDuring, I think you underestimate the number of words in an actual book.

Per 200 words its 1 ss, so the more words the more ss

TryToGuess Way of Choices started to come out on Amazon Kindle, so that's a good comparison to use.

The first 4 volumes on the Kindle were about 80 chapters per volume, and cost $3.99 per volume. There would be about 15 volumes for the complete book. So the price from Amazon would be around $60, which I consider a fair or even good price. But that's quite a bit less than the $325 calculated to read it here!

The daily free SS would certainly affect the end price here, even reducing it to free if you wanted to read it over several years and read nothing else. But that's not going to be done by anybody.

The ad is just a girl in the dress--it's not forcing you to consume any objectionable material.

Let's compare, last book I bought, 30 dollars, around 500k well written and edited words. To your 1m sometimes badly written, translationed, edited constantly repeated word count filling words. For double to 10 times the price .....

I would love to read some of these books be properly edited and published.

The membership was barely worth, stones aren't even close to worth

          Ominith

Heh, the 1300 pages novels are too often not all that well written, but yeah I see your point.

There's also the other extreme. Wildbow's Worm is free to read and clocks in at around 1.7M words. In all honesty webnovels should probably be compared to webnovels rather than physical books bought in a brick and mortar store.

Lastly, if what floats your boat is Chinese style webnovels, then you're pretty much limited in terms of where to get them. This makes pricing comparisons a bit redundant.

Nah, I would like to support what I like to read, but at a reasonable price range ... Stones aren't a reasonably solution

I supported premium when it was in it's beginning fase, it looked good, not everything was locked just the latest few chapters, even bought SS back in the day. Now it's so bad that I refuse to buy anything from here anymore and just go to different places for the content I want. (google is a good friend and the enemy of Webnovel and their SS bullshit)
