Ahhh there's still a 1000 vote difference between me and first place. All I can think about nowadays is 'Not Today'(think it's the only reason why I'm even still in the competition)
Even though we are the dark horses; the underdogs of this competition. Even if a contracted author is against us. We will not back down, no, not today.
Today
We
FIGHT!
Cringy, but it's literally one of the only things keeping me going rn. That, and my group of friends one of whom almost punched me after I refused to tell her what was happening in the next chapter LMAO

After what shot said in the other thread, I feel kind of conflicted.

On one hand, id love for more people to support BTS. The more fans the merrier.

But on the other hand, contracted author's(shown in many other contests too) will often defeat those uncontracted ones. Sometimes, those people put their heart and soul into their story and win. That's great! But sometimes, they might just put out a random story with similar themes and just let their fanbases do the work.
That isn't great.

In the end, not all contests will be about BTS nor supporting some other thing. If this is the exception, then what about the future? What about the other contests that people join, only to be thwarted because a popular author also joined? Would that be fair?

Damn, my ethics class didn't prepare me for THIS.

noctiferu I also feel really bad for those not on the first page of listings. For them it’s even harder being noticed, and some of them are really good too. In short, it’s a tricky situation truly. But we do what we can, and keep improving for the next time. BTS wasn’t made in a day or a year, but years.

On drama that I witnessed today:
BTS contest comment section blew up with hate for authors...which is really sad. In the end, we are all ARMYs wishing BTS well. I'm sure they would appreciate the 1m support prize, so we have to work hard to get it!
Luckily Chryiss and several others calmed it down. And there were hugs.

There really is a part of ARMY which makes me despair sometimes...to the point where I feel ashamed to call myself an ARMY because of the negative connotations. Hopefully this will change. I must thank everyone so far for their support, and I pass on wishes and luck to everyone who's participating.

Chryiss oooh thank you so much. i havent checked forums for a while. busy with my son so i could only read to sleep. havent finished your novel on RR too. im wondering if there's an app for that? the pc version font color's not ok for me. it's difficult to read so i was not able to read it yet

schreient There’s no mobile app yet. The color theme is only two, light and dark. You can switch them at the bottom. And no worries, take your time lol. I sometimes zoom in on the words.

noctiferu Don’t feel ashamed. There will always be bad eggs. But to be fair, we don’t know whether everyone is a true army or just trying to support an author, friend, or story. So it’s not like army is to blame, and there have been those who pretend to be us in order to mar the fandom name. Not saying this is happening here, just saying in general this happens because of how competitive kpop is. How I see it is that relations were tense for awhile because we all suspected something or another, and we naturally tried calling it out because of the big prizes. I can see this happening with any big artist name. I think it’s because BTS that we can remember their message and calm down.

Chryiss oh i just tried searching for that button but still couldnt find it lol. i suck at these things XD ill try reading slowly. my eyesight is not bad but i have issues with colors. im blind on some of them so i feel overwhelmed

my pc's always on but i prefer reading on my cp hehe

Im still 2nd! but hey that's super impressive! ...i don't know why the voting gap between 1/2 - basically the rest of the rankings is so large. i've been busy the past week with getting ready for my mid-years.
i hope the gap decreases. many of these novels deserve their place on the rankings.
and us ARMYs are now suuuper close to 500k!! we should be able to make it to 1m by the end hopefully

noctiferu You mean the other pages beyond the top 10? If so, then yes I agree. It’s most noticeable in the BTS contest with first place at 8K votes while number 10 isn’t even at 1K and then look at number 20 which isn’t even 200 votes. It’s crazy how big a difference rank 1-20 and beyond is. But it’s also happening in the MLBB contest too, though on a smaller scale.

Chryiss people seem to be voting for pretty much the first couple stories they see. I'm wondering how many of them even read the novels before voting.

noctiferu im sorry if i made you conflicted, its my opinion though so you can continue to believe in yours

Im just saying that to look at the side of each other so we can never really guess.

But thank you for still considering my opinion 😊

I think to patch up this problem maybe we should sugges to webnovel to hold two different kind of contest, one for amateur writers and another for the professional writers.

Since the amateurs usually have the same level of readers and same for the professional.

The con of this suggestion is that it might maked the expenses bigger, but in the long run it will be good for everyone since a distinction between the two is made.

Well thats just an idea that pop up in my mind

ShoktMeNoSleep Nah, I was just thinking that your opinion was very well thought out of and it's another insight. No need to apologise. I'm a very open-minded person(but my mind likes to argue with itself cries)

Your solution sounds like a good idea, but the problem is that most of the popular authors aren't professional writers either. They're just...popular. I mean, you've always got to start somewhere, right? Plus, the moments where popular/pros join contests are very little, and it's usually just one or two. So WN holding a completely different kind of contest is pretty hard to do.

I also had an idea: a week of writing and promotions for smaller authors. On Noah, there could be a ranking, and another tab for "undiscovered gems". When readers find what they consider a gem, they can vote for it(before the actual voting, and those in the top 10 cannot have votes for them), and the novel will show up in the tab for undiscovered gems. I don't think this would work to be honest.

Over many contests, we've all seen the complete disparity(especially with the BTS and MLBB contests) between 1-3 place to 7-10. Usually, there's a massive difference(as you see in BTS), and it's even worse for those novels on pages after the first page, because no one ever turns to them(unless you're a hardcore fan). So I thought of this method so people could pick out those novels who are gems, but got buried by the rubble.

I wish there wasn't this kind of disparity. Me wishing for this sounds hypocritical, since I gained so much from this disparity. But I would also like a fair competition, and see how my writing compares to everyone else's. The system we have now does somewhat depend on writing quality(as you see gems like Deviant and BigHit's New Girl Group in the top 10), it is still quite unfair for those novels who join later.

noctiferu Just wow, i like your idea! Its much better doesnt cost much, just tweak the event layout and it will be better for everyone. I hope that in the next event something like that can be implemented.

Actually im beginning to question my opinions too, but since i pushed it so far might as well stick with it.

And i also wish for that disparity to disappear, cause i gained my place due to advertising early to my friends and family.

At least if the gap is shorter the basis will truly be on the content of the book and not each authors standing.

(Im actually panicking right now cause my rank dropped XD)

ShoktMeNoSleep Hey. Don't panic. We still have lots of time left, and the gap between 8-5 is pretty small. You'll get through it. Deep breaths, and continue writing.

                        Ganbatte, jia you, and fighting!

noctiferu thank you! I really like the postive aura that seems to radiate from you

Do your best too! Actually im now hoping for you to reach the top 1 😆

                          Fighting! 😊
