noctiferu You mean the other pages beyond the top 10? If so, then yes I agree. It’s most noticeable in the BTS contest with first place at 8K votes while number 10 isn’t even at 1K and then look at number 20 which isn’t even 200 votes. It’s crazy how big a difference rank 1-20 and beyond is. But it’s also happening in the MLBB contest too, though on a smaller scale.
BTS Contest
noctiferu im sorry if i made you conflicted, its my opinion though so you can continue to believe in yours
Im just saying that to look at the side of each other so we can never really guess.
But thank you for still considering my opinion
I think to patch up this problem maybe we should sugges to webnovel to hold two different kind of contest, one for amateur writers and another for the professional writers.
Since the amateurs usually have the same level of readers and same for the professional.
The con of this suggestion is that it might maked the expenses bigger, but in the long run it will be good for everyone since a distinction between the two is made.
Well thats just an idea that pop up in my mind
ShoktMeNoSleep Nah, I was just thinking that your opinion was very well thought out of and it's another insight. No need to apologise. I'm a very open-minded person(but my mind likes to argue with itself cries)
Your solution sounds like a good idea, but the problem is that most of the popular authors aren't professional writers either. They're just...popular. I mean, you've always got to start somewhere, right? Plus, the moments where popular/pros join contests are very little, and it's usually just one or two. So WN holding a completely different kind of contest is pretty hard to do.
I also had an idea: a week of writing and promotions for smaller authors. On Noah, there could be a ranking, and another tab for "undiscovered gems". When readers find what they consider a gem, they can vote for it(before the actual voting, and those in the top 10 cannot have votes for them), and the novel will show up in the tab for undiscovered gems. I don't think this would work to be honest.
Over many contests, we've all seen the complete disparity(especially with the BTS and MLBB contests) between 1-3 place to 7-10. Usually, there's a massive difference(as you see in BTS), and it's even worse for those novels on pages after the first page, because no one ever turns to them(unless you're a hardcore fan). So I thought of this method so people could pick out those novels who are gems, but got buried by the rubble.
I wish there wasn't this kind of disparity. Me wishing for this sounds hypocritical, since I gained so much from this disparity. But I would also like a fair competition, and see how my writing compares to everyone else's. The system we have now does somewhat depend on writing quality(as you see gems like Deviant and BigHit's New Girl Group in the top 10), it is still quite unfair for those novels who join later.

noctiferu Just wow, i like your idea! Its much better doesnt cost much, just tweak the event layout and it will be better for everyone. I hope that in the next event something like that can be implemented.
Actually im beginning to question my opinions too, but since i pushed it so far might as well stick with it.
And i also wish for that disparity to disappear, cause i gained my place due to advertising early to my friends and family.
At least if the gap is shorter the basis will truly be on the content of the book and not each authors standing.
(Im actually panicking right now cause my rank dropped XD)
ShoktMeNoSleep Hey. Don't panic. We still have lots of time left, and the gap between 8-5 is pretty small. You'll get through it. Deep breaths, and continue writing.
Ganbatte, jia you, and fighting!
noctiferu thank you! I really like the postive aura that seems to radiate from you
Do your best too! Actually im now hoping for you to reach the top 1
Fighting!
I see you're getting closer nocti ! (:
And you'll be fine Shokt! XD
As for me, I'm kinda concerned that I'm going to be knocked off the top 10 since I seem to be consistent in vote gains everyday. Like number 9 has 1.5K AB votes, one chapter, 12 PS votes, and is one day old............... not sure how to feel about this. I hate being suspicious, but yeah to be honest I'm....suspicious. I hate feeling like this :disappointed: but......it's like another slap in my face after writing nearly two dozen chapters for three weeks.
Since it's not like I was that keen on writing fanfic---I forced myself for BTS---if I drop out, I seriously feel like stopping writing the story. On the other hand, I would feel bad for the readers I've gained whose warm comments make my day.
Chryiss The same for me, suspicions keep bubbling out and i kept trying to pop it off of my mind and thank you chryiss, i really do hope that all of us will do fine till the end of the competition
I felt the same, at the start. I don't like writing fanfiction about real people(I like to give people their due respect and writing about them is a little ehhh...esp with some of the smutty fics.)
But for the tickets, I started writing this fanfic. however, i did refuse to add in any ships, because it feels very uncomfortable to me to write about someone who's real falling in love, i believe that in the future, whoever they fall in love with should be left to them. let them have that privacy.
Hence why my novel plays more on BTS's theme and bond as a family.
noctiferu Yeah, I don’t like shipping either even though I like bromance. That’s okay because I see no reason why girls can be super close but guys can’t. I was concerned there would be a lot of shipping fanfics, but thankfully they were rare. I’m glad most tried focusing on the boys instead with an added character if there’s any sort of romance going on.

Hi! This is an original novel that was written by a new author for the BTS contest and I just wanted to try to get as many people to notice it because it is such an amazing story! It's the author's first ever novel and they are putting in so much effort to make it an incredible story so please give it love and support, I really want the author to see how much love they're getting for their touching work thank you so much and please spread the word. FIGHTING!
EvangelineSummers Heyo! I'll check it out when I have time: it's always good to spread love between fellow ARMYs.
Fighting!
I've been losing a lot of motivation recently. Stuff happens. Drama happens. I wish it didn't end this way, but I will be the mature one and quietly bid everyone good luck without all the fighting.
noctiferu Hang in there noctiferu! There are lot of peoples who loves your writing, i have no idea on what happened cause i was busy with exams, but know that we are here supporting you!

ShoktMeNoSleep Thank you! Luckily, the drama was deffused and we were all at fault. There was hate comments everywhere, it was a mess. I'm very happy that everything's cleared up now though. I really didn't want to let go of a friendship if I didn't feel like I had to.
I'd suggest not asking about the drama. It's long and messy, but it was solved in the end and that's what everyone needs to know.
Now onto today's thing: I learned that the internet is one where you really have to watch your words, and be mindful of the people around you. Learn to empathize with others, and learn to calm down and analyse a situation before replying.
And that no matter what, drama is never worth it.
I cannot begin to say how glad I am that this is over.
noctiferu Thats wonderful! I was a little bit shocked when some of the army were discussing it at the comment box.
Glad that it was resolved quickly.
noctiferu
Awww...There's always enough love to share with every one
