I'm literally just here to scream about how fast the votes rose up??? One day, 100k??? Holy hecc that's fast
On the other hand, good luck to all the contestants! The one in first place is fishy tho,,,,
BTS Contest
I'm still screaming lmao
I don't read those bts fanfics but see you around here quite frequently so... have my bombs :D
InsanelyParanoid thank you??? the one time me lurking on a website brought profit
Update: I'm still screaming, but I think ash is gonna overtake me by tomorrow cuz of her huge fan base. Don't think WN's gonna do anything about the weird #1 person with one chapter.
Ahh Ash is gonna overtake me and the weird number one person... TwT my tickets.... Guess this is the power of a contracted author with many novels
Well you’re better than me lol. I’ve got lots of chapters out since I’ve been writing for a while now, but no one seems to care much about length or like realism genre. Just authors.... oh well. I screwed up in the first part of the contest too by locking my power stone vote button for days.
It would be nice if people read others’ works instead and made a fair judgement. There are lesser known stories that are really good too. Too bad the first prize isn’t for the top two, one set of tickets each. Still it’s pretty cool that WN is doing this sort of event for the first time.
Chryiss true true... people vote because they like the author and not because they like the writing. Which is, kind of heartbreaking, because this is literally probably the only chance I'd get to see BTS(unless if they finally decide Australia is a worthy destination). Sigh. Oh well, nothing we can do. Can't control the world. All the best of luck to yours. its rly good I love it
noctiferu Since there’s no way I’m going to get first, I don’t mind my current 5th place. :’) Album and gift set is still nice.
I was shocked when I looked at my collections number from yesterday though. It doubled and is now more than either of two other novels. x_x That’s kinda crazy. Maybe I’ll get some transferees onto those stories. XD The only other good thing coming out of this whole mess lol.
Chryiss
I still think I have a chance hopefully
My collections skyrocketed...it's literally five times higher than before. Almost gonna reach my current main novel :skull:
But the gap between me and Ash is so far. The power of a contracted author cannot be underestimated. I wonder how many people read her novels
I'm still screaming anyways
This is WN. No such thing as even playing field. Shoujo drama of the underdogs to the end. Kind of like Dream High season one.
noctiferu It's the Bambi one right? It ranks number 4 in the Original PS voting, so that's probably why. It's just like how I was rooting for @schreient in the last competition, but the number one was easily won by the contracted author of Spirit Cultivation. I actually like that novel, but yeah, considering SC ranks #41 on the Originals, and then we have a #4 novel in this contest? Well you're seeing what happens.
Anyway I wish you the best because you have the closest shot at it. But even if you don't make it, you'll get to attend one of their concerts one day so no worries. They're becoming more and more global.
Veronica8 OMG that comparison tho. I really hope that a miracle will occur. Never thought I'd get this far. To get your support is so surreal(did I mention I'm a fan? yeah I adore your works  )
Chryiss , out of all the novels on the lists, yours is the one I'm rooting for.
Thank you. Let's hope us dark horses win this race
noctiferu hey sorry, do you know how to enter a book into the contest?? IM SERIOUSLY STRUGGLING and literally nothing can help :((
ireuminyoongi2 No worries! So you make a story and there should be a drop bar when you make it that allows you to select BTS contest. I think it has to be a new novel.
Ahhh there's still a 1000 vote difference between me and first place. All I can think about nowadays is 'Not Today'(think it's the only reason why I'm even still in the competition)
Even though we are the dark horses; the underdogs of this competition. Even if a contracted author is against us. We will not back down, no, not today.
Today
We
FIGHT!
Cringy, but it's literally one of the only things keeping me going rn. That, and my group of friends one of whom almost punched me after I refused to tell her what was happening in the next chapter LMAO
After what shot said in the other thread, I feel kind of conflicted.
On one hand, id love for more people to support BTS. The more fans the merrier.
But on the other hand, contracted author's(shown in many other contests too) will often defeat those uncontracted ones. Sometimes, those people put their heart and soul into their story and win. That's great! But sometimes, they might just put out a random story with similar themes and just let their fanbases do the work.
That isn't great.
In the end, not all contests will be about BTS nor supporting some other thing. If this is the exception, then what about the future? What about the other contests that people join, only to be thwarted because a popular author also joined? Would that be fair?
Damn, my ethics class didn't prepare me for THIS.
noctiferu I also feel really bad for those not on the first page of listings. For them it’s even harder being noticed, and some of them are really good too. In short, it’s a tricky situation truly. But we do what we can, and keep improving for the next time. BTS wasn’t made in a day or a year, but years.
On drama that I witnessed today:
BTS contest comment section blew up with hate for authors...which is really sad. In the end, we are all ARMYs wishing BTS well. I'm sure they would appreciate the 1m support prize, so we have to work hard to get it!
Luckily Chryiss and several others calmed it down. And there were hugs.
There really is a part of ARMY which makes me despair sometimes...to the point where I feel ashamed to call myself an ARMY because of the negative connotations. Hopefully this will change. I must thank everyone so far for their support, and I pass on wishes and luck to everyone who's participating.
Chryiss oooh thank you so much. i havent checked forums for a while. busy with my son so i could only read to sleep. havent finished your novel on RR too. im wondering if there's an app for that? the pc version font color's not ok for me. it's difficult to read so i was not able to read it yet
noctiferu Don’t feel ashamed. There will always be bad eggs. But to be fair, we don’t know whether everyone is a true army or just trying to support an author, friend, or story. So it’s not like army is to blame, and there have been those who pretend to be us in order to mar the fandom name. Not saying this is happening here, just saying in general this happens because of how competitive kpop is. How I see it is that relations were tense for awhile because we all suspected something or another, and we naturally tried calling it out because of the big prizes. I can see this happening with any big artist name. I think it’s because BTS that we can remember their message and calm down.
Im still 2nd! but hey that's super impressive! ...i don't know why the voting gap between 1/2 - basically the rest of the rankings is so large. i've been busy the past week with getting ready for my mid-years.
i hope the gap decreases. many of these novels deserve their place on the rankings.
and us ARMYs are now suuuper close to 500k!! we should be able to make it to 1m by the end hopefully
noctiferu You mean the other pages beyond the top 10? If so, then yes I agree. It’s most noticeable in the BTS contest with first place at 8K votes while number 10 isn’t even at 1K and then look at number 20 which isn’t even 200 votes. It’s crazy how big a difference rank 1-20 and beyond is. But it’s also happening in the MLBB contest too, though on a smaller scale.
noctiferu im sorry if i made you conflicted, its my opinion though so you can continue to believe in yours
Im just saying that to look at the side of each other so we can never really guess.
But thank you for still considering my opinion
I think to patch up this problem maybe we should sugges to webnovel to hold two different kind of contest, one for amateur writers and another for the professional writers.
Since the amateurs usually have the same level of readers and same for the professional.
The con of this suggestion is that it might maked the expenses bigger, but in the long run it will be good for everyone since a distinction between the two is made.
Well thats just an idea that pop up in my mind
ShoktMeNoSleep Nah, I was just thinking that your opinion was very well thought out of and it's another insight. No need to apologise. I'm a very open-minded person(but my mind likes to argue with itself cries)
Your solution sounds like a good idea, but the problem is that most of the popular authors aren't professional writers either. They're just...popular. I mean, you've always got to start somewhere, right? Plus, the moments where popular/pros join contests are very little, and it's usually just one or two. So WN holding a completely different kind of contest is pretty hard to do.
I also had an idea: a week of writing and promotions for smaller authors. On Noah, there could be a ranking, and another tab for "undiscovered gems". When readers find what they consider a gem, they can vote for it(before the actual voting, and those in the top 10 cannot have votes for them), and the novel will show up in the tab for undiscovered gems. I don't think this would work to be honest.
Over many contests, we've all seen the complete disparity(especially with the BTS and MLBB contests) between 1-3 place to 7-10. Usually, there's a massive difference(as you see in BTS), and it's even worse for those novels on pages after the first page, because no one ever turns to them(unless you're a hardcore fan). So I thought of this method so people could pick out those novels who are gems, but got buried by the rubble.
I wish there wasn't this kind of disparity. Me wishing for this sounds hypocritical, since I gained so much from this disparity. But I would also like a fair competition, and see how my writing compares to everyone else's. The system we have now does somewhat depend on writing quality(as you see gems like Deviant and BigHit's New Girl Group in the top 10), it is still quite unfair for those novels who join later.

noctiferu Just wow, i like your idea! Its much better doesnt cost much, just tweak the event layout and it will be better for everyone. I hope that in the next event something like that can be implemented.
Actually im beginning to question my opinions too, but since i pushed it so far might as well stick with it.
And i also wish for that disparity to disappear, cause i gained my place due to advertising early to my friends and family.
At least if the gap is shorter the basis will truly be on the content of the book and not each authors standing.
(Im actually panicking right now cause my rank dropped XD)
ShoktMeNoSleep Hey. Don't panic. We still have lots of time left, and the gap between 8-5 is pretty small. You'll get through it. Deep breaths, and continue writing.
Ganbatte, jia you, and fighting!
noctiferu thank you! I really like the postive aura that seems to radiate from you
Do your best too! Actually im now hoping for you to reach the top 1
Fighting!
I see you're getting closer nocti ! (:
And you'll be fine Shokt! XD
As for me, I'm kinda concerned that I'm going to be knocked off the top 10 since I seem to be consistent in vote gains everyday. Like number 9 has 1.5K AB votes, one chapter, 12 PS votes, and is one day old............... not sure how to feel about this. I hate being suspicious, but yeah to be honest I'm....suspicious. I hate feeling like this :disappointed: but......it's like another slap in my face after writing nearly two dozen chapters for three weeks.
Since it's not like I was that keen on writing fanfic---I forced myself for BTS---if I drop out, I seriously feel like stopping writing the story. On the other hand, I would feel bad for the readers I've gained whose warm comments make my day.
