Spirit Stones can be used to unlock chapters, power stones are used to make your favorite books more popular; making them higher on the ranking list, I forgot what energy stones are for, exp allows you to level up and have for power and energy stones I believe.

      So, Captain_SoulFox , there is no definite time within a series where the chapters become locked; I'm pretty sure it's up to the author. It becomes locked when the book goes premium, which means the author is getting revenue from their book. Now before the books can have locked chapters, they have to become well liked; or something like that, that prevents all authors from just locking every single series. Most authors have somewhere between 50 to 100 free chapters in their series of they have locked chapters. I am currently reading "The legend of the Dragon King" and I am over 200 chapters in, yet I still haven't come across a locked chapter. Make sure you use the sport stones though, they expire eventually.

          I'm not sure how it works for translated novels, but all of them became locked after more or less a hundred chapters. The chapters are locked so that this site can earn from them. You must know that spirit stones is the currency here. WN gives free Spirit Stones every day but they expire after thirty days. Also, they only give a limited amount, so if you're reading many novels or chapters and most (if not all) of them are locked, you will need to buy spirit stones. Btw, bought Spirit Stones don't expire.

          Btw, JacksonWalker is correct, when it comes to original novels, not all became locked, only if that novel is contracted will it become locked.
