What is your collection to views ratio? #2
- Edited
May1st hell yeah. In ratio terms, 292:1 so, on every 292 view/read the story was added to a library for later or offline reading. Throwing out the ratio. Having 283K views with near 1K collections is brilliant. It means your story is interesting readers and actively being read.
Nice work. :grin:
Hm, it's been some time. Guess I'll post mine too in the wake of this new, glitchy Inkstone.
Big Hit's New Girl Group: I'm a K-Pop Star?!
166K views, 1008 collections = 164:1
RE: Life as a Tree
61K views, 124 collections = 492:1
Canaan: My World To Live
75K views, 105 collections = 714:1
The last two novels have been left in the dust with worsening ratios. Oh wells~

Veronica8 TMS = 425:1
Reborn = 761:1
Zaldizko = 353:1
4th Zaldizko = 1.150K despite being a poor player here, I'll still bank my focus on self-pub this one next month.
Dragonieth = 227:1
Wowsers. I don't know if it's because of all the background work going in Inkstone. My collection adds keep going up and down like rabbits.
Maybe peeps didn't like my new chapters. :eyes: Always strange when you update work and collection drops.
Oh, well, such is life. I'm expecting a few more collection drops since I'm terrible for updates. It's impossible for me to keep a regular schedule.
TMS = 428:1
Reborn = 758:1
Zaldizko = 354:1
4th Zaldizko = 1.14K:1
Dragonieth = 232:1
I think updates is the least of my problems. I've worked out that my stories are too out there for the average reader. Might need to stick with my contemporary romances.
On that note. The book that baffles me.
To Like A Man = 352:1
Been a couple of months since I dropped. I was expecting the collections to return to 0, but they keep going up, making the ratio consistent. :sob: I feel guilty. I can't cave and be fickle. Must stick to vision to keep me on the narrow writer's path. Otherwise, I'll go wonky and off the rails (more so than I already am).
With the new dashboard, I wonder if the better stats to follow would actually be valid reads and minutes. If we could see how many people read in a week, that would be good too. Or a percentage of the collections who actually read. But week by week can also provide a lot of zeros for small fics, so itβs not the best in that regard.
xWangan ohk... So my novel has a ratio of 219:1 despite my irregular updates and bad writing skills. Hehe..
GreatSage_Master1 then what about the time constraint. Even if we start a novel and didn't get to update regularly. The released chapters were still there for new readers. does it make a difference in some way?
Surviving_17 That's pretty good.
Veronica8 Thanks it's a long way ahead.
Veronica8 This discussion really helped me a lot to understand. Keep up the good work!!
Here is mine now.
The Hunter Academy: 265k views and 1.966 collections = 134:1
Rebor in DxD with Fate System: 7.730 collections and 1.8 millions = 232:1
Hmm. Now that copy/paste protection is in place, I wonder if that will start to make our view counts more realistic?

GreatSage_Master1 f**k me! What! 7000+? Am dead
Why isn't there a dead person emoji? , that is way too cool
Added another chapter today after eating and sleeping. Will go back to rest and recoup this budding cold. The nice surprise was that for whatever strange reason, my other two stories have slowly been gaining collections, just 1 or 2 a day. But after a long stagnant period, that's big for me. XD
Big Hit's New Girl Group: I'm a K-Pop Star?!
181K/1042 = 173:1
RE: Life as a Tree
67K/141 = 475:1
Canaan: My World To Live
79K/110 = 718:1
The tree story even slightly improved its ratio! But that's because I haven't updated for two weeks yet again cough. On the other hand, MWTL gets a lot more "updates" because I'm slowly catching it up to where RR already is in the story. One of these days I need a mass release on my poor tree story that gets no love in terms of updates. :joy: :sob:
Haah, I actually just wanna finish this Big Hit story already. :eyes: I'm not going to rush it to the end, but I'm not tempted by any means to lengthen it just because it's my more popular one by a long shot. I think whether or not I reached any better level of success on this site will depend on how my fourth novel goes.... If it flops like the other two then I know for sure that having one more popular fic doesn't help the rest lol. (I do suspect that some of my readers from the fanfic did peek at my other two stories though...)
Veronica8 TMS = 428:1
Reborn = 758:1
Zaldizko = 354:1
4th Zaldizko = 1.14K:1
Dragonieth = 232:1
TMS = 432:1
Reborn = 706:1
Zaldizko = 357:1
4th Zaldizko = 1.25K:1
Dragonieth = 239:1
It's confirmed. My books aren't popular with readers :laughing: Maybe I should've stuck with cliche and gone all out with To Like A Man since this book is the only one gaining steady collections where all others are loosing them. Although Reborn surprised me.
Then again, I would've been bothered by not finishing what I started with Seriphyn Knight Chronicles. I don't have another decade to waste on this series. Before I leave this earth, I'd like to have the entire series on shop bookshelves digital/physical. Of course, this means I'll be doing the self publishing route since doubt I'd see this series being picked up by a traditional publisher. Webnovel contract offer was an anomaly.
I've added a few new chapters to The Fourth Zaldizko as this book is my focus. Unfortunately, that's put a hold on the other in progress ones as I realised I'm a one-at-a-time person. I can't multi-task well when it comes to books.
I revised the format for Zaldizko chapters "All In Love", "All in War" and "The Zaldizko Prophecy" since these were tricky chapters for readers and received some feedback on this. Hopefully, it reads better.
My book is Harry The Harem Lord-1

I think ratio isn't everything, because reader are tends to read many books, and of all of them, they could only vote for three (Power stones), so they might vote once in while. Anyway it seems complicated in deeper study, than just simple ratio.
Iβm starting to wonder if that Valid Reading Ratio on the new daahboard actually gives a better idea if readers are reading. That along with the number itself each 48 hours.
On another note, I just noticed that my tree story gained 10 collections in a day, first 5 yesterday night and now another 5 this morning. Now I feel pressured to update because idk why all of a sudden I got a 10% boost in collections. :sweat_drops: Howβre they finding the story when I didnβt update for two weeks yet again?! Just watch, when I do update, the collections will drop just like last timeβs pause in updates. XD
Veronica8 TMS = 432:1
Reborn = 706:1
Zaldizko = 357:1
4th Zaldizko = 1.25K:1
Dragonieth = 239:1
TMS = 430:1
Reborn = 727:1
Zaldizko = 358:1
4th Zaldizko = 1.31K:1
Dragonieth = 243:1
So despite the 4th Zaldizko being my major dud here (all my stories are duds) I must finish this story. Will focus completely on this one regardless. I can't put this one off. It'll hurt my heart too much.
That means all the others will be on hiatus. Well Sunflower already is whilst I figure out avoiding legal hot water and don't have the focus to the others for the time being.
Veronica8 You can do it! Keep at it kitty! It can be demotivating to see stats of a novel stagnate (that's how it is with my baby MWTL too where for once, WN adds are better than RR---I even saw some drops). But this is just a small pond, and the writing process is continual. One day we may see the stories on the bookshelves. That's honestly my biggest dream for writing. Hopefully, B&N won't be closed down by then due to e-books lol!

Chryiss :grin: Thank you! Yep this kitty cat can do it. Looking at my work, it is niche, but so was Space Opera and CEO Romances back in the day. Now we have cliches built around 50 Shades and Guardian of the Galaxy. :laughing:
I'm kind of being arrogant in trying for the next best thing. This kitty sticking to her guns :smiling_imp:
Yep, I think one day we'll get our moment. Just got to keep at it and fight the good fight. :grin: Maybe you should ask Edgary to feature MWTL if it hasn't already. I just think it needs more exposure.
I'd ask for the fourth, but he'll likely say "sorry, no thanks". I've received that too many times.
On a different note: The 4th Zaldi was featured again at Tapreads. I think they're doing their best to support niche stories and writers. The fact that they have a category called LGBT, means they really want to be inclusive with their range. Well, they don't have much of a catalogue yet to boost, so probably why I'm getting the feature slots :laughing:

Veronica8
'One Piece: Beyond the Horizon' 115vpc, FanFic Genre
https://m.webnovel.com/book/14317028706041005
'Haunted System: Path to a Superstar' 533vpc, mostly cause my starts too slow, Horror Genre
https://m.webnovel.com/book/14246411405750005
'Creator of Legends: The Evolution Tree' 310ish, used to be 200ish but its hiatus, started writing again but forgot that plot paper at home, so decided to write two new novels instead of continuing this and ruin the story. Magical Realism Genre
A dropped novel I had 320ish, it was trash though in my opinion, well at least for my writing level, I read a lot worse books on originals though
My opinion on what status vpc signifies on whats good/bad once you are above 8+ chapters, prologues easy to get marks so doesnt count, they might drop
150γΌ/1 Amazing
151-225/1 Good
226-300/1 Above Average
301-350/1 Average
351-400/1 Below Average
401-500/1 Bad
501+/1 Trash, should probably see what you did really wrong and fix it in your next book
Yes Ik my horror novel is in the last category, but its mostly cause of my slowwww start. Like Id put that n average or below average, just cause your novel is in thay category doesnt mean the novel itself is bad or good, its just what readers more prefer to read and can be used as a criteria to judge your book.
Just an opinion with my experience of writing 100-200k ish words
Eslyna Not to sure what vpc is, sorry.
I guess for me, this collection to views is about audience reach.
Webnovel has a very specific reading market. If your story fits to their market majority and popular format, it's likely to gain reads and a solid ratio.
I guess I'm not inclined to say that this ratio defines a quality story (grammar, design etc). How many complaints has been made on this forum about some promoted and popular works being poor or so so quality? Then again, most readers here are forgiving in that sense.
I do agree on the need for reflection and continous improvements, but there's also the risk of doing too much to suit the masses that you'd loose yourself to the audience rather than the other way around.
You noted some interesting perspectives. Thanks for sharing them. Good job on the stories.
My worst baby still seems unable to reach epic level. 130k reads but 16 collections still is ways from 10K:1 :D
My main story has dropped to the area of 800:1. I still have hopes of seeing it hit one million reads in the far future; associated with a worse than 1K:1 ratio though ;)
Veronica8 I meant what u said in third paragraph, this is just my general idea of a 'what rank is my book at', lije different genres have more readers etc. Like FanFic argueably the most traffic heavy of genres in WN, which correlates to my ratio, however that is my ost recent book, so its also my best book currently.
While horror has lesser niche in WN so has less v/c. I also improved from my last two novels, but I tried slower story line to lay uto more info, but I feel like I lost a lot of readers that way which both correlate to the poor ratio, plus my first time writing horror stuff while I don't have much interacrion with thegenre other than video games and My House of Horrorsm which was what made me write the book as I cant marathon anymore. The horror still better than other originals I tried in the genre though which were about ten-twenty, just ones that looked horror focused.
