I think ratio isn't everything, because reader are tends to read many books, and of all of them, they could only vote for three (Power stones), so they might vote once in while. Anyway it seems complicated in deeper study, than just simple ratio.
What is your collection to views ratio? #2
Iβm starting to wonder if that Valid Reading Ratio on the new daahboard actually gives a better idea if readers are reading. That along with the number itself each 48 hours.
On another note, I just noticed that my tree story gained 10 collections in a day, first 5 yesterday night and now another 5 this morning. Now I feel pressured to update because idk why all of a sudden I got a 10% boost in collections. :sweat_drops: Howβre they finding the story when I didnβt update for two weeks yet again?! Just watch, when I do update, the collections will drop just like last timeβs pause in updates. XD
Veronica8 TMS = 432:1
Reborn = 706:1
Zaldizko = 357:1
4th Zaldizko = 1.25K:1
Dragonieth = 239:1
TMS = 430:1
Reborn = 727:1
Zaldizko = 358:1
4th Zaldizko = 1.31K:1
Dragonieth = 243:1
So despite the 4th Zaldizko being my major dud here (all my stories are duds) I must finish this story. Will focus completely on this one regardless. I can't put this one off. It'll hurt my heart too much.
That means all the others will be on hiatus. Well Sunflower already is whilst I figure out avoiding legal hot water and don't have the focus to the others for the time being.
Veronica8 You can do it! Keep at it kitty! It can be demotivating to see stats of a novel stagnate (that's how it is with my baby MWTL too where for once, WN adds are better than RR---I even saw some drops). But this is just a small pond, and the writing process is continual. One day we may see the stories on the bookshelves. That's honestly my biggest dream for writing. Hopefully, B&N won't be closed down by then due to e-books lol!

Chryiss :grin: Thank you! Yep this kitty cat can do it. Looking at my work, it is niche, but so was Space Opera and CEO Romances back in the day. Now we have cliches built around 50 Shades and Guardian of the Galaxy. :laughing:
I'm kind of being arrogant in trying for the next best thing. This kitty sticking to her guns :smiling_imp:
Yep, I think one day we'll get our moment. Just got to keep at it and fight the good fight. :grin: Maybe you should ask Edgary to feature MWTL if it hasn't already. I just think it needs more exposure.
I'd ask for the fourth, but he'll likely say "sorry, no thanks". I've received that too many times.
On a different note: The 4th Zaldi was featured again at Tapreads. I think they're doing their best to support niche stories and writers. The fact that they have a category called LGBT, means they really want to be inclusive with their range. Well, they don't have much of a catalogue yet to boost, so probably why I'm getting the feature slots :laughing:

Veronica8
'One Piece: Beyond the Horizon' 115vpc, FanFic Genre
https://m.webnovel.com/book/14317028706041005
'Haunted System: Path to a Superstar' 533vpc, mostly cause my starts too slow, Horror Genre
https://m.webnovel.com/book/14246411405750005
'Creator of Legends: The Evolution Tree' 310ish, used to be 200ish but its hiatus, started writing again but forgot that plot paper at home, so decided to write two new novels instead of continuing this and ruin the story. Magical Realism Genre
A dropped novel I had 320ish, it was trash though in my opinion, well at least for my writing level, I read a lot worse books on originals though
My opinion on what status vpc signifies on whats good/bad once you are above 8+ chapters, prologues easy to get marks so doesnt count, they might drop
150γΌ/1 Amazing
151-225/1 Good
226-300/1 Above Average
301-350/1 Average
351-400/1 Below Average
401-500/1 Bad
501+/1 Trash, should probably see what you did really wrong and fix it in your next book
Yes Ik my horror novel is in the last category, but its mostly cause of my slowwww start. Like Id put that n average or below average, just cause your novel is in thay category doesnt mean the novel itself is bad or good, its just what readers more prefer to read and can be used as a criteria to judge your book.
Just an opinion with my experience of writing 100-200k ish words
Eslyna Not to sure what vpc is, sorry.
I guess for me, this collection to views is about audience reach.
Webnovel has a very specific reading market. If your story fits to their market majority and popular format, it's likely to gain reads and a solid ratio.
I guess I'm not inclined to say that this ratio defines a quality story (grammar, design etc). How many complaints has been made on this forum about some promoted and popular works being poor or so so quality? Then again, most readers here are forgiving in that sense.
I do agree on the need for reflection and continous improvements, but there's also the risk of doing too much to suit the masses that you'd loose yourself to the audience rather than the other way around.
You noted some interesting perspectives. Thanks for sharing them. Good job on the stories.
My worst baby still seems unable to reach epic level. 130k reads but 16 collections still is ways from 10K:1 :D
My main story has dropped to the area of 800:1. I still have hopes of seeing it hit one million reads in the far future; associated with a worse than 1K:1 ratio though ;)
Veronica8 I meant what u said in third paragraph, this is just my general idea of a 'what rank is my book at', lije different genres have more readers etc. Like FanFic argueably the most traffic heavy of genres in WN, which correlates to my ratio, however that is my ost recent book, so its also my best book currently.
While horror has lesser niche in WN so has less v/c. I also improved from my last two novels, but I tried slower story line to lay uto more info, but I feel like I lost a lot of readers that way which both correlate to the poor ratio, plus my first time writing horror stuff while I don't have much interacrion with thegenre other than video games and My House of Horrorsm which was what made me write the book as I cant marathon anymore. The horror still better than other originals I tried in the genre though which were about ten-twenty, just ones that looked horror focused.

Veronica8 Thanks! I considered the idea once, but I just have a feeling this isn't the platform for MWTL to break out in any small way. But more than that, if it does get some traction, I'll have to change my weird way of updating to avoid the scrappers (because it's so messy and confusing lol), but I don't want it to get pirated, so that update method's not going to change. (As it is, I haven't gotten any comments or anything on that novel since deciding to keep it up to date, just a few silent collections.)
I'm going to try out the Mass Release program this week and see if it does any wonders. I'm testing with 5 chapter release once the TGIF is confirmed. Otherwise, they get daily release schedule.

Reborn = 727:1

4th Zaldizko = 1.31K:1
Dragonieth = 243:1
Zaldizko = 361:1
4th Zaldizko = 1.58K
Don't think I'll do the TGIF program again. Was time consuming. It's great for contracted because they already have the audience, so can reap a reward of being read. For a no name, you're really doing the mass release for yourself, so no different to Nanowrimo.
The dashboard is so detailed in telling me I'm the only one reading my books cause of proof reading :sob: My reading statistics wireframe has flatlined!
I think scrappers are still trying to steal, since a lot of my readers that have made a book visit are unknown. So, far no new updates have shown on fake Wuxiaworld and others for The Fourth.

Been a while, and still see this as relevant.
TMS = 435:1
Reborn = 754:1
Zaldizko = 371:1
4th Zaldizko = 1.78K:1
Dragonieth = 260:1
Stable, give or take a few gains and drops. This is the amount of interest to my stories since the last update almost a month ago. The fact that non contracted stories are no longer featured (except via the daily update algorithm that's weird to begin with), makes these stats reassuring. Combining this stat with the dashboard wireframes, I can see if those intentions to read become actual. To date, only Zaldizko has active readership. I guess this could be due to my commitment, since my updates are erratic but I do intend to finish these books. Especially the Fourth and Reborn since they're part of a 10 book series.
Veronica8 Interesting dynamics. I have growth, only after sharing the review ... and then silence again. But at the same time, the number of collections increased from 32 to 90. At the same time, they do not comment, but 5-10 people read it.
I plan to finish 3 of 5 stories this year by writing 30β40 final chapters.
Thank you for sharing interesting information!

Re: Incarnation Death Match (RE:IDM) has 4948 views and 11 collections, putting the ratio on 1:449.
Not too bad, considering I update weekly instead of daily.
The Ugly Diana- view 15k, collection 126 = ratio 119
Gourmet_DAO That's pretty good growth. Nice.
I noticed, writing male lead stories, they tend to attract the silent readers. That's not a bad thing. It's good we can now see something of active reading in the dashboards.
Veronica8 interesting observations! there are more silent readers!

While we're talking reader interest. Don't know how it will go for my upcoming books I aim to self publish now that I've decided the full version via paid channels only.
Example: I'm going to stop posting the Fourth at the end of Volume 5 here, but finish the book offline for ebook/paperback release.
I guess a non profit reason for this decision is piracy countering and taking advantage of them at the same time.
Hi everyone I just took part in WPC12 and I think I am worse of all 5.9 k views and 12 collections...Can something come down this???
I just want to cry out loud...aaaaaaaa...
I think I am worse writer of all...
Scarletheart84 I wouldn't take results of a WPC to heart. As its much more of a networking contest than a writing one.
My first WPC entry didn't even put me in a rank. I remember only getting 1-2k views and the only votes then were my own that I stopped early cause I got lazy. A year later my entry was contracted. Although I wouldn't call it a success rate here. And it's likely to be eventually banned being a BL.
Keep writing. There are 12 readers who showed interest in your story and want to give it a go. They are worth as much as 1000 readers at this stage of the story.
Then there's the story itself. If you're passionate for it, give it an ending regardless. You could always take it to a place that will love it.
And you can only improve from here.
Hmm. Shady deal seems too good to pass up.
Hi there!
Your other stories are actually quite popular and good. Why not post an update notice for your old readers that you are on a new story and they can support you?
Cheers!
Veronica8 Who are you dear??? From today onwards count me as your fan because your words really give me so much of happiness and feeling of worth something...Today I got only 3-4 votes and I was totally down. This one is my third try in writting and I was hopelessly thinking about making it good in WPC this time because my previous two books didn't do really well. I mean 1st book Heavenly blessed was praised by some people but eventually after some 50 or chapters everything died down...Then I asked readers what happened?? They sincerely told me that I dragged the subject a little bit...So I asked them some time to rewrite it...still collection of some 55 after stopping it 4 months back. In that period, 3 months back I took part in my first WPC
compitition that time my book got bronze and it got collection of more than 220 but still very few people commeted and voted on it...So I lost an interest but still I wrote it but then my thumb got injured in accident and I stopped it totally. When I came back again I wrote a chapter to tell readers I am back and what happened but I didn't got any response so I thought of reuploading of my first book but you know it again doesn't got much response so I again stopped but I wanted them both to live so I thought of taking part in this compitition. So that if more people will know me they will someday turned to them also but looking at this stage I lost that hope also.
My novel is not getting much response....I got reviews of grammatical mistakes and some said they are not fan of smut so they didn't liked it but for god sake I went through so many books on Webnovel were in every second novel has smut and that too detail description about it. Which novel don't have it in detail? Please I really want to read and appreciate them from bottom of my heart. Because after that also there novel is working on Webnovel...In my all three novel I haven't wrote any description about it but they labelled my book as smut and it hurt me too much. My book was getting response till that time I didn't had review for it but since those 5-6 reviews it just fall down. No maybe it is my writing fault but 4.6 rate for my book I can't believe. Today I read all novels first 2 chapters of first 4 books and I got to know that I should just take it little cool about result. Because I surely know who is better and your advice made it so easy for me to understand this fact that votes doesn't depend on how good you write....
Where is your that BL book dear. I would love to read it. I am big fan of cultivational, BL and vampire stories and right now I am obsessed by Alfa omega stories.....
I started reading "The eternal daffodil" I really loved it but that author eventually stopped uploading just like me...No readers ...no votes at all...
But enough of ranting thank you so much for your kind words and please be lije this only...You are really kind hearted person....
Thank you....
Avidfan I did that dear for those books but very few people turned out and some really loyal readers are only helping me with this WPC compitition...No one else...But thank you for your suggestion... I am so happy today you made my day.... Thank you...
