@shllove @Clarkie @WEBNOVEL_OFFICIAL I have summoned you all to show the situation to you. I'm done with chapter chat at this point. The biggest cause is the exp missions 'write a reply' and 'write a comment' and another cause is that there is little to no chat regulation. It seems pointless to even report the spammers when %90 of the chat is filled with spam...

There is no point in even checking out what other people think about the chapter since there is nothing left to read thanks to all the spam. Even if there are a couple people who actually post stuff worth reading, it's too bothersome to scroll through all the spam just to find those. I just copied a random chapter chat to show you how bad it got. We have been telling you this for the last 4 months but i doubt anyone with an authority in Qidian management cares about it. If you guys cared about it, you would have done something about it in 4 months. That's plenty of time to adress an issue. I doubt you were unaware about this for the last 4 months. Here, check it for yourself...

Even without Exp people will spam. Some ret*ards even used bots at WW and MoonBunnyCafe just to get into the F5 Sect or write first.

I wish we could have a real discussion here (sadly I spamed for exp a while too, but stopped when reaching level 4).

You can join the qidian discord. People there seem to discuss novels for real.

I don't think the chapter chat is made for a real discussion, but a place where people can throw their impressions on the chapter right after they read it. Like if they found something wrong about the chapter, or if they liked something particular about it, or there are some cases where people can't remember certain characters or events so they ask in the chapter chat to be reminded quickly. It's not for deep discussions, but for quick impressions.

shllove This is not something that can be solved with 'Anti-spammer' because technically saying 'thanks' isn't a spam. But when hundreds of people say 'thanks' it just fills up the chat as you can see. The biggest reason is the reward people get from exp missions 'write a reply' and 'write a comment'. People don't want to write worthwhile comments so they either write 'thanks' or 'exp' as it's easy to do it. Ofc people can write anything they want to get the rewards, so the words 'thanks' or 'exp' isn't to blame here. The problem is that you are forcing people to write something that they don't want. So they just write whatever comes first to their mind... So even if there was a spam protection it would do no good for this specific problem. You need to come up with better exp missions in place of 'write a reply' and 'write a comment'...

SomeMnlightSculptr i was one of those people who encourage the "thank you" readers. i told them to shower the translator with some love and appreciation for their hard work.
no regrets, though maybe we can implement a mechanism in which readers are allowed to give translators virtual hearts if they happen to like the translators' works.

i'm sorry if its bother you, but (no offense) i won't stop doing so even if there is no exp mission. i love it, why would i stop doing things that makes me (and many others) happy?
(no, what i likes is not that its bother you, but "sense of accomplishment" and "i feel good" feeling i get from posting such comments, ugh idk how to explain it, its okay if you can't understand us though)

please let us be. what we really want is not to ruin these good and dedicated readers' reading experience, we just want to show our feeling and appreciations (which is in different way from what they do).
please don't take away our rights to express our feeling (even if our way looks ret*rd to you).

if its possible, just give us a tiny space (a separate comment box from the main comment section). so we can use it for "first, thanks and congrats" thingy, and they can use the main comment section for serious novel discusion.

i can accept all the hatred (even though we did nothing to offend them, its just that they seems to disdain the "unproductive" way we use to express our feeling), but i can't accept if our rights is taken away from us just because many people hate the way we doing things.

shllove thanks, it just that some of us are uncommunicative nerds.
some are not confident with our english, fear to phrase our words wrongly and fear things goes wrong (or people mock us) because of that.
some people read english fine but got problem when writing or speaking (like me), especially those who only comment "first, thanks and congrats" or only clicking "like" button and never comment.

these people will not/rarely tells their opinion because they don't want the misunderstanding and the mocking thats possibly will happen.

Miya Well, i can kind of blame them for encouraging readers to participate on the site... Because it's empty encouragement. It's the same thing as when they rewarded writing a novel review. Remember that time? Reviews got totally useless at that time because people were just writing gibberish reviews for getting their daily reward. Qi realised their error in that one, but somehow thought it would be a good idea to give people new exp missions for 'write a reply' and 'write a comment'... It's the same goddamn thing! How can the person setting this up not see what this would do in the future? It's not that hard to guess that history will repeat itself right? Now the same thing that happened to reviews is happening to comments instead. So yeah, i can blame them. Now that saying 'thanks' and 'exp' become almost like a fad, i'm not sure if it will stop even if the exp missions were removed. I doubt even translators like to get hundreds of 'empty' thanks like this... There are some translators who like to check the chapter chat and write back to people who share their thoughts about the chapter and it must also be annoying for them to sort through all those 'thanks' and 'exp' spams to find worthwhile comments to write back to. Wouldn't you get numbed if you were thanked hundreds of times per day? Especially when you know they are pretty much 'empty' thanks? Most people aren't thanking the translator because they are truly thankful, most are doing it for the exp mission or for the translator to translate faster. It's like telling your mom 'thanks' when she gives you your meal. Over time it becomes something autonomous instead of you being truly thankful every time she makes your meal...

Rather than banning people from putting thanks comments, there should be an option for top comments.
