I did point that many readers felt that way, to the point of leaving bad reviews and complaining a lot on the novels comments. Many just dropped reading the novels. I choose to go with the flow and came here because I do belive webnovel was right in that they did.
I’m a capitalist. I don’t think they are wrong on charging for the service provided. But I rather they were clear about it. Every one of those systems were poorly introduced tbh.
About being lied to, I do actually believe they are trying to better the conditions of the personnel working on the novels. But after hearing the same thing so many times it does sound as a lie. Just like, you know when parents keep postponing taking a kid somewhere cuz they are busy. Even if they are. Even if the kid knows and understands it. It will still start to sound as a lie to they after some point and they will feel they were lied to even if they know they weren’t. That’s why “it’s to support them” sound as a empty excuse even if it’s not.
So, sorry you were wrong with both 1 and 2. What angers and frustrate me is the lack of a clear approach from Webnovel's part to it. Even if @CKtalon or someone else talked about it at some point in some post probably only those involved on the discussion or that were accompanying it readed it. And it is only done after a lot of proplems arised.
Even at the beginning of this year many translators went “mia” and then the novels picked up by groups with novels going into hiatus for weeks because of it and no word was said by webnovel’s side to clarify what was happening. All we readers got was some rumors trough the grapevine, but no official clarifying. This one you remember right? Is this lack of transparency that bothers me. Sure there is a lot that they don’t have to reveal or explain about. But explaining a bit about why they are charging more would help “support them” not seem like empty words.

Also, back on the suggestions topic, how about adding a new type of currency on the app to be used to buy the “privileged chapters” and vouchers for exemple? In the future new paid features could be introduced under it as vip services. That could generate the necessary income since this currency in specific would be only able to be bought and not earned like SS. Even chapters under certain chars POV and some comissioned artwork access could be sold as vip/premium/privileged (or whatever it is named) content using it.
It would be quite some work to make it but i feel it would be worthy in the long run... even more so if it follows the cultivation trend... maybe ChaosStones? or RefinementPills? Or something like it?

      Ok, clear, sorry for misinterpreting your post. You've been here way longer than me, and therefore have witnessed a lot more stuff, so I understand where you're coming from. Yes, one thing I have always called them out on is to provide better customer service. I hope in the future they'll invest more in this instead of relying too much on the community to provide explanations, etc. Not saying relying on community is bad, but there's only so much mere frequent forum-goers could do to help out.

        I'd also like to know why u can't read privileged chapters from Website or why u cant buy them. I understand that it is likely to support the webnovel App. For me however I read a lot of chapters at home and I dont use pad or something so i can only the privileged from my phone and that really gets on my nerves. Would be nice if I could get answer @WEBNOVEL_OFFICIAL

          It would also be nice if there was some process to challenge a deleted review. It's sad when you can leave a review on a story and it just gets deleted because the translator doesn't like it. It's fine if it's the "expexpexpexp" reviews but when they delete real reviews that let people know the flaws of a story then there is a flaw in the system. The people doing it for xp won't challenge so I think this system should work out better. At the very least better than what is currently available.
          A 5-star rating doesn't mean much if all they've done is delete the lower rating reviews.

          Also please bring back landscape mode for mobile. I hate reading in portrait.

          CKtalon Reading ahead of others is only possible if actual chapters are unlocked. Buying ahead of others what you get normally and paying trice the ammounts is insane. So only an addict would do that. It’s insulting to call this scam a privilege.

            nazumisty I completely agree this “privilege” is a textbook definition of a pyramid or ponzi type scheme. Keep spending money on top of money for something that we already spend money on. Quit holding chapters that are already completed for ransom.

              WEBNOVEL_OFFICIAL Regardless of the adjustment privilege is still a scam. Most of these authors and translators are not professional writers so let’s quit treating them like they are by paying for them by the page. Professional authors aren’t even this greedy.

              Why hold completed chapters for ransom? We already have to pay to read them anyway. Release the chapters when the authors post. If they don’t want to write quite posting novels.

                I'm not sure if there's some sort of misunderstanding here, but none of the chapters are being held for ransom. And no one is forcing readers to pay for them.

                This is actually based off the Patreon method where Patreon creators reward backers who donate more to them with early access. For example, $1 or level 1 backers can read up to the regular releases. But creators usually keep a stockpile of say, 10 or 20 extra chapters, which are scheduled for release at a latter date, but grant $10 or level 2 backers early access to these extra chapters. Otherwise there's no difference between a $1 backer and $10 backer - why is one paying more than the other for the same thing? The system is in place to reward those who donate more to the creator.

                Similarly, those who wish to support their favorite authors can do so by paying more for privilege chapters. You don't have to if you don't want to, similar to the $1 backers. If you choose not to pay for privilege chapters, you'll be granted access to those chapters at the regular rate. Early access is a product in itself, what privilege buyers are paying for are early access, and not the actual chapters themselves. This isn't a scam, it's just paying for a product called early access.

                If you don't want to, or you can't afford to, you wait for the next day to read the next chapter. It'll just get unlocked normally the next day. As simple as that. No one is holding the chapters at ransom.

                Clear example. Author A writes story titled B. There are 100 free chapters. Chapters 101-200 are locked behind a paywall at 10 SS per chapter, and A updates B daily. But Chapters 201-220 are privilege chapters, so if you really can't wait or you want to support A, you pay extra to read those privilege chapters early (maybe 20 per chapter). If you don't want to, then you can just wait for tomorrow for Chapter 201 to be released regularly and pay at the same price of 10 SS as always. Meanwhile, a new privilege chapter 221 gets added tomorrow. And then you unlock Chapter 202 at 10 SS the day after tomorrow (while privilege chapter 222 gets added), and so on and so forth. No one is holding you at ransom and forcing you to buy privilege chapters. Privilege equals early access, that's all, the chapters will all be released at regular price eventually.

                It's the same model as Patreon. If you think it's a scam, you might as well go condemn Patreon and Patreon creators for "scamming" their backers by dividing them into levels and giving their different levels of backers different types of access and privileges. Otherwise you're basically complaining about paying for early access, and that you want early access without paying for it.

I bought Privileged chapters for Perfect secret love and it was for 15 odd days only..i still accepted that and that has some 2 days left .. now when i bought privileged chapters for Genius love why was my validity just 2 days...this is wrong..

                            Before you purchased Privilege for those novels, did you even bother to read the fine prints that come with it? In the Privilege rules and warning page, it's clearly stated that Privilege expires at the end of every calendar month. In the Privilege page where you click the button to purchase the service, there's even a timer showing how much time left until the service expires.

                            So if you bought the service today, knowing that the calendar month will end today, then really, it's on you. And if you bought the service without thoroughly reading the warning and rules, it's also on you.

                            In general, It is an important customer responsibility to read all literature that comes with the product or service that you're buying. Lesson for you to take away: ALWAYS read the fine prints.
