Novellove Or just include it in a post on the TGIF thread.... like what sometimes happened before they had a banner. Its not like there are ever too many ways to communicate something. Especially on a matter a large number of people ask for any information on and it does not really take that much time.
A number of helpful forum members share this information on their own time without have to be paid to care about it. So its a little sad how many questions there are about this matter that get unanswered by anyone related to WN. As well as how little work or thought seems to be given on addressing this longstanding issue. At least if something was tried and failed (because of whatever reason), and this was being communicated in a transparent manner to WN's customer base it would provide some knowledge that efforts were being made to correct this issue. For now I have no idea if the banner was meant to stop working or if WN has even noticed it no longer works (despite being mentioned in the forum and emails to them being sent multiple times).
Instead, it stops being communicated for a while in posts, then it stops, then it starts again, then it stops, then it starts again (x2 or 3 more times, its been 2 years so I have forgotten the precise count), then it stops and an email notification goes out to anyone willing to give their email and spamming rights to WN, then the post goes back up, then down and a banner replaces it, then the banner stops working... and all the while no one (or seemingly no WN staff paid for the forum or anything else WN-related) seem to answer questions about it. It just appears or does not appear. Or it mysteriously appears in a new form only to stop later, equally mysteriously. Only helpful, unpaid forum members seem to respond to questions about it. Maybe WN should look at hiring more (if they already have one) communications editors/managers, as well as the content editors they are looking for. Whether it be in Singapore or any other country. I can see how if they already paying someone to handle 50 other things on top of communications that person might be overwhelmed and unable to communicate or respond to queries on this or any other matter. I do not want to attack any paid employee who might be in such a situation. But I really feel WN should invest more in this, if they have not done so. If this was a completely free service that someone was doing in their spare time, this would still be highly annoying, but somewhat understandable. But for a paid service with enough free SS thrown in to be several days behind on one book (that may or may not ever be fully translated on schedule or ever), this does not really seem like a good idea for long-term success. Especially one that seems to like stopping people working for free (and/or donations) on books posted on their China-based website who also seem to provide better service. Piracy is not ideal, but creating the perfect situation to encourage people to support piracy does not seem like a good thing either.
