Would you read a novel if there is equal amount of good and bad reviews, with equal numbers of biased and unbiased reviews? Example (50= 5 stars, 50= 1 stars)? So which side will you choose?

Depends on the genre and introduction.

At my opinion you shouldn`t give a shit about reviews. You have to build your own opinion. Every person has a different taste. Even if the novel had 1000 1-Star reviews I would want to read it myself to see if it really is that bad.

Hmm, I personally read reviews only if the synopsis give no shit about the novel, in that case I don't check about bad or good novel in the reviews but about what's happening inside of it (outside of spoilers). In experience, I've read a lot of novels with bad reviews but that I still like in the end, reviews.. Bad concept in my opinion.

If it was that polarised, it would probably be something that you either love or hate.

I read a few reviews to see what they say and if it matters to me. Like Epoch of Twilight there was a novel that mentioned it had rape and harem, which I don't like so I was like okay, not reading. But there's also the Great Thief, where most of the low star reviews mention how it rips off WoW, which I don't care about (I don't know WoW lore so it'll read originally to me... even if it didn't, I'd just take it as like some real wild fanfic or something and be cool with it) so I'm like okay don't really let these reviews influence my decision. So yeah, it depends on what's written in the reviews. But most of the time I just look at the summary and decide from there, unless the summary doesn't give me enough to let me decide.

Well, it depends. I would most likely give it a try, because I've found some "Bad Review Novels" pretty OK, except for their Translating Speed. I've read the comments, and I'll tell some stuff I've learnt from reading almost a hundred Translated Chinese Novels.

The introduction, is 90% of the time, not even related to the Novel itself. Sometimes, the Title is not related to the book, which I find weird. Just give it a try, it'll only waste five minutes of your time.

Although I consider the ratings as the first standard to pick a novel but that's just the first standard. No matter what ratings it has sometimes the story is written for you and if you miss out on it due to the belief in ratings then that's just bad luck. Read reviews especially those which has detailed descriptions about the pros and cons and decide whether the novel is suitable for you to read or not.

A live example would be "The Experimental Log of the Crazy Lich".
I picked up this novel because of its ratings were good and the first few chapters were good and I enjoyed the author unraveling the mysteries behind the MC but then it became too stuffed. Although it had all the elements I liked a strong and cunning MC, Mystery plot, Game element, Fantasy World, Non-human MC (for a while at least) it had so many redundant chapters that i felt like the only chapters containing some actual story were half of its current release.

So my advice is, give the novel a go, read about 50-80 chapters and then decide whether to continue or not.
