I've just had this happen on my trending novel. It wasn't meant as a joke. They rreeeaaally didn't like my book. Oh well. Not everyone's gonna like it. I'm not upset about them not liking it.

That said, my SO HAS been raped in the past. It's not something to be taken lightly, and it's a super messed up thing to wish on anyone. Please, if you're leaving negative feedback on a writer's work, try to recognize that writers are people too, and treat them with some level of decency. Try to focus on the work itself, rather than wishing sexual violence on someone's significant other because you aren't happy with a story's direction.

It's okay to hate a story, and call a writer an incompetent hack. It's not okay to wish someone be violently sexually assaulted.

I'm Clowniac, and this has been my TED talk.

I disagree with you on a couple of points.

First of all, it's okay to wish someone be sexually assaulted. Specifically, all the people who wish someone was sexually assaulted should get sexually assaulted, preferably by a hairy, unwashed, ugly pervert, just so they find out what it's like.

Secondly, it's not okay to call a writer an incompetent hack. I've read your stuff and you're a writer, not an incompetent hack, like most of the people here. Hell, many of the people here don't even deserve to be called incompetent hacks.

BTW, what does SO mean? Son of...? Secondary orifice? Sacred orchard? Shitty omen?

Best wishes, and keep on trucking.

      DarkGenesis

SO is shorthand for Significant Other. I would be even more upset if someone threatened to rape my sacred orchard. Lol.

Thanks for this. It's made me chuckle and brightened my morning. And I appreciate the compliment!

        Clowniac

I'm taking for granted that they're reported in order to have their accounts removed.

          StenDuring

I have reported the comments. That said, if other people want to do the same to draw more attention to it, I would appreciate it.

Clowniac Recently, these sort of comments have been going out of hand. One person commented really nasty things because my FL slept with the second male lead. I mean, my synopsis clearly said that she will fall for the second male lead while my actual male lead has to go through a lot to gain back her love. But the person still left nasty comments and spammed my review section with 'ntr'. It's so frustrating.

Clowniac Oh and that person also said how he doesnt like 'women sleeping around'. I mean, there are so many WN out there where the ML basically rapes the FL and manipulate them into thinking that it was consensual. But god forbid if a woman sleeps with a guy on her own accord. The mindset is terrifying.

Hey peeps, let's not get too sanctimonious here. What are you gonna do, arrest everyone who likes horror movies? Blood, death, rape, violence of all kinds - the vast majority of people likes that sort of stuff. The fact that you don't or I don't doesn't matter much.

Not so long ago, watching someone being put to death was the best show in town. High-born, sensitive and art-loving ladies and gentlemen spent small fortunes to rent a room with a window that gave a good view of the scaffold. Watching someone's guts being ripped out or whatever was the best entertainment around.

So, take it easy. If someone wants to show the world what an asshole they are by clamoring for rape, let them. Life will find a way to punish them, in good time.

                Michael_Ryman

I too listen to Hardcore History. lol

And yeah, I wasn't trying to start a crusade here. I was just asking for basic civility.

Yeah, those assholes who shout rape and all that really should experience it before wishing it upon others.

Similarly, those bastards who tell authors to die or kill themselves should really experience receiving death threats and other verbal abuse before dishing it out to others. Can't take it? Don't give it.
