Whenever I try to update the android app, it doesn't update. It says 'Network issues, please try again later(404)'

Can't you delete it and install again?
Not touching the app until they stop requesting all those unnecessary permissions and are allowed back in the Play store.

Luta thanks didn't see that. Still won't trust them with direct access to my phone.
