Trying to have different font style (Italicized) for some of my work since I've read some novels in that format, but I can't seem to find any editor in Webnovel to help me do that. So how did those other novel writers did it? Any idea?
Font style (italicized)
Text formatting is only for contracted authors' work(s). Idk why WN decided to make it exclusive when all other webnovel platform allowed us to use it...
MuddyEarth it's not exclusive. the italics/bold still have bugs, so wn's been testing it out with contracted authors. they will make it available for everyone once all the bugs are smoothed out. (imagine the mass panic that would follow if they put it out to the public right now, and everyone started making posts called "omggg the italics aren't showing up on mobile!!!)
so, just a little patience would be great. :D
- Edited
Mass panic sounds a bit overkill.
They'd be like 10 threads on the forum about it, and that's about it. It wouldn't break anything, it would just bug out some stories on mobile.
I guess there are a lot of drama-queens here, though, especially on mobile. They'd overreact, so I do see your point.
Also how difficult is it to implement italics in 2019? No need for patience, that's something that can be added easily if WN was actively trying. It's just not very high-up on their to-do list I imagine.
JVenior well yeah, I was trying to make a joke, but I guess I have really bad humor haha
my personal idea is that the tech team of wn is very small, & they're bombarded with all these different complaints that they all have to work on simultaneously-- so when one starts lagging behind, there are immediately more complaints. but I have no idea what's really going on behind the scenes-- this is just my imagination.
but yeah, that's about all I know so just sharing what's going on as an explanation of a sort.
yaoyueyi I'm honestly shocked that something as basic as italic and bold text weren't in Inkstone at launch, but then again the site is ran by a Chinese company and their native editor probably didn't need it.
Baskerville, Bembo, Garamond, Janson, Palatino and Times Roman (though this is more of a journal font) are the commonly used book body text types for this reason. It can be hard to read for a whole book without serif fonts.
- Should not use less than 8pt by using a body font without a serif (Helvetica, Arial, Verdana, Tahoma, etc). Tailor. Should not use less than 10pt if you use a serif font on body text (Berkeley, Palatino, Garamond, etc.). Tailor.
For some custom fonts ideas you can get help from: (https://fontvilla.com/runic-translator/)
Typography convention holds that sans serif faces should be used for display headers and book covers while serif typefaces are used for body text to ease readability.
@yaoyueyi Necro'ed Thread.
