I think a quick simple approach for determining how translators will proceed could lead to a less than optimal result. It is my opinion, that a more detailed approach defining the community with multiple polls and observations, will lead to a better result. Interaction with the community is a good thing, as it can allow you to make decisions that are best for all parties involved. We should remember, that while there is a large selection of content to be translated, there is less translation resources to translate said content. Therefore, decisions based upon a good amount of data benefits every party involved. Qidian gets new successful stories translated onto the site for more visits, translators get to translate what a good percentage of the reader base is interested in, and the readers get stories with plots that they are looking to read. [My comments are based upon what I could determine from initial post by Qidian, which did not indicate how book selection for the pool would occur.] A good first step towards finding future successful projects, with community interaction involved in the process.
