  • Anyone have any tips for making books more interesting

Rae_B31 Ask for advice from those who are successful or a writer, or read manuals for writers on the Internet.

Combine whatever concept you have with something completely out there.

Time travelers wife for example is just another romance story but the time traveler quick makes it interesting and gives more sub plots.

The better your main plot, the better your story. But if you can support it with sub plots occurring along the way things get more interesting.

If you write a fan fiction, choose your own main plot and only consider Canon events sub plots and side quests if you really want to get involved.

Going of the beaten path makes it interesting. Combine popular elements in it and it will be more easily so check your own search history on here and what keywords you type in to find stories. Make something that fits with those keywords because that's your passion and your passion wil bleed over I to ur story.

Oh boy. This is a subject I actually spent a lot of time researching... So! Some tips!
      1) Any story can be interesting if you “tell it right.” Your writing style can greatly influence how interesting a story is. I recommend that, to study this, you find 5 versions of the same fairytale online. It’s the same story, but which way of telling it interested you more? Ask yourself what made them different.

      2) Main characters need motives. Within the first chapter, I should know what your main character wants. It can be as simple as “I don’t want to die,” or as complex as “I want people to accept me for who I am.”

      3) Show, don’t tell. This means that, in writing, you treat your reader like a smart and observant person. For example:
Instead of writing “He had a bad temper,” have that character get mad at someone and start yelling at them. Let the reader connect the dots.

      4) Watch your story’s pacing. If you are writing action, occasionally allow a less action packed period for the reader to relax. If you are writing a relaxing slice of life, don’t let every scene drag on. Pop a few short scenes here and there to break up the pacing. Know when to cut a scene short or when’s to make it long.

Rae_B31 Reading lots of books from various sources can help. If you're like me and no where near a library, there's Project Gutenberg to be able to read some great classics that have been offered under public domain licence because their copyright licence has expired.

Learning the basics of writing construction can also help too. Some links to writing tips for beginners.

Adding: If you're concerned about character design. Game scripting can help with that.
