Lilliny I am fully aware of what i typed/said. It wasn’t about any unhappy authors, the unhappy people where the ones who couldn’t read anything for free anymore.

The question about if any of the authors gotten any benefits yet since the update was just a curiousity on my part.

Lilliny I did it right but it didn't show up so I had to change the gif. Sigh. The earlier one was so much better I tell you. 😞

Zhinoy Authors get paid once a month, so after about two months we'll be able to know how much authors have gained/lost with the changes.

Lilliny I see, well for the authors, fingers crossed that you all get some xmas bonuses and hopefully WN won’t keep those bonuses to themselves.

It's only the readers so far who have been venting out. People, if you think that this is only affecting readers and not writers, think about it again.

Readers can always shift to other platforms (there are many I believe) and they would get to read the way they were reading. Once they get used to the other platform, they wouldn't even remember Webnovel.

But writers here, they would lose their readers. Even if they were not contributing them to earn anything, but it's not only about the money. Readers are important to writers. Losing any of them is not pleasant.

Zhinoy This is the thing. Readers are thinking they have been cheated and this is like the most unfair thing that could happen to them when in reality, they are the least affected ones compared to writers.

People are thinking that WN is dumb, foolosh, this and that but in my opinion, WN has played very smart and I kinda appreciate them.

Now, with the limited unlocking options, people would go more for the free novels. People have this notion that contracted stuff is levels up than the non-contracted ones and now with this move, people, who wanna stick to WN, sooner or later would be more inclined towards non contracted stuff because they would be able to read after exhausting their coins and free passes and stuff.

This way, non-contracted novels would get exposure, and WN would want to offer them contracts. Now again, there would be a crazy competition even in the contracted novels because readers would have no choice but to pick their most favorite ones and would have to let go of others because of the limited coins. Once got attached to the novels, a bunch of readers would find it hard to resist and would end up buying coins.

Webnovel has played smart in every way.

Yeah,i might drop webnovel as well...they bring many novels ,but after 20-ish chapter, they gone premium.Fast pass don't work on every novel.Shamless money grubers

LostInFictions Not pleasant and unwise. A reader is a reader. You still get a boost of votes, comments and reviews. Whether someone reads for free or not, those things are for free. The more votes you have the higher ranking right, so free users are needed. (Besides, every free user is a potential paying customer. You never know).

As for the contracted writers/authors? I will skip on that. I can cause another shitstorm here, which is not needed. So yea, free readers are really useful, they have the right to voice their opinions and fell about it that way. I mean, if no one voiced their opinions, they could basically do anything they want. People always fought for their ideas, so I don't condemn that. (Lack of communication from officials is not helping those readers much).

LostInFictions Yeah it’s pretty much a ideal setup for WN to preselect any non-contracted novels to be future contracted novel, remove majority of the free readers by any means, reduce benefits for paid readers a little and hoping for those paid readers to pick up/read any free to read novels.

I guess you can call it an investment.

DaoistImmortalDrag Easy for you to say when you're not disabled and on fixed income, some of us with limited mobility read to keep our sanity. I know many websites that put ads which makes income for the website owners and keeps the reads free for the people. Only thing is I don't mind static ads but those damn redirects make you feel your PC is being infected!

DarkRay I agree but there is way of expressing, no? I mean, calling people bastards and stuff... erm... doesn't sound too cool to me.

Oh yes, we are supposed to avoid a sort of word storms. 😂

                alternatetext

Ramiro_Barrera Don't buy if you think that quality isn't up to the mark for you, no? : )

I believe one should invest money only in the stuff one finds worthy. So if you don't find a novel worthy enough, leave it and find a better one. That's how it works here, no?

MotivatedSloth It would make sense if the lion's share went to the author instead of the website owners. That's why Patre0n is a better option for authors to keep it free and let people pay the author directly! STOP BEING SO DAMN GREEDY AND FEEDING OFF THE AUTHOR"S HARD WORK!

DarkRay An even better deal would be to pay 9.99 a month for amazon's unlimited kindle deal which let's you hold up to 10 novels on your PC, kindle, device at one time. Like a library just return the ones you're done with and you can replace it with another one. Much better deal than the rip offs on this website!
