Veldora I agree but in my mind I always assumed like it was part of the essentials/basics eg pill cauldrons and pills, the elements, the body refining stage.
But no need to be a stick in the mud, I'll keep up.
I prefer to think of them as independent cultivators. they are free of restrictions,rules or customs imposed by cultivating sects or families/clans. In SFSP those cultivators working for the imperial government are not referred to as itinerant cultivators as well. The translation looses some of the meaning which is an implication of freedom or a carefree cultivator that can wander the world unhindered.
minru BTW how odd is it that sects and such aren't as discriminatory to wandering cultivators as other CN?
Al_theGenie In Realms in the Firmament novel, there is a delicate balance between royalty, nobility and cultivator sects (at least in the lower realm of Han-Yang), so wandering cultivators get good treatment. They mostly serve the Royalty, but of course there are true lone wolves as well.
