  • How to earn a contract for new writers this 2020

Avalondra I’m not contracted; although recently, I did get contacted by an editor who saw potential in my stories if I picked them up again on Webnovel. From what I’ve seen, as long as you actively write and update your story, the WN staff will notice you eventually while they’re searching for new novels to possibly offer a contract. If you made your story during a contest and ranked well, even if not first place, then that’s even more likelihood of them noticing you and possibly giving an offer. Other than updating consistently with passable grammar, which I think you have covered if your post is any indication, there isn’t any shortcut way. You can, though, send them an email after your story has a decent following and stats. Worse case scenario, they reject and you try again later. But now at least you’re on their radar. I’ve seen both stories with hundreds of thousands of views and over a thousand collections get an offer as well as ones with a fraction of those stats.

I actually once thought that Diss meant shorthand for discussion; even though, it has an extra s. I wonder if other people thought that initially too. Or it’s just me being uncannily dyslexic or something...

Avalondra I got an offer for a contract about a month after I started writing. (Around 33 days after to be exact.)

From the dashboard, my stats by then were:
62 Chapters with an average of 2,700 words
      1,097 Cumulative Collections
Around 56,842 views (Not quite sure about this one.)
      504 Cumulative Power Stones
      13 Cumulative Reviews

Note that I participated in a WPC, but started with around five days left like an idiot. Never really wrote before then, except for a two chapter trial run that was mostly done for fun.

Ended up taking that novel down because people started reading, was very shy back then (still am honestly). My heart was beating so fast from getting views that I deleted the chapters from anxiety.

Anyway, let's go back to my main novel. In that WPC, I got second or third I think? Got 500 spirit stones, that's what I remember.

I don't know if they really check for the stats like collections, since I can't really know if they have access to that.

If I had to guess, they consider just views, chapter count, rating, power stones and perhaps read the first chapter and the latest chapter. They might check the date of first chapter release and the latest release. At least that's what I would do if I was an editor.

        2. Join Author Discord. I've forgotten the link, sorry about that.
        3. Wait for a WN staff to send you a contract offer on email or PM on Discord.

After you submitted the application form, they will give a boost to your story by featuring your novel on the front page for a few days. Usually, they will offer you a contract via email in about two weeks up to a month, depending on the viewership and your performance.

ChuYang thank you. That's a lot for me in your first novel. I started writing a month ago. My collections so far was 200+. 33 chaps, 50+k words, last week I got more than 150+ power stones. I think I was still far to let my novel be noticed.

Avalondra Just release daily and plan ahead. Most readers are satisfied with a consistent release alone.

Look at how poor in quality some popular novels are, but since they release daily, or even two chapters a day, people eat their novels right up. I'd say that you shouldn't push yourself by doing daily when you can't do it. But truth of the matter is, there is a need for you to do that to get noticed.

um I received a contract when my book was on ch 15 with only 12k views and 76 collections. It’s not that much, but if you’re story is really good i’m sure you’ll get one. My book is still very new as well. I finished ch 16 about 5 days ago.
