This Was Answered Q and A posted below

Q: Noticed how we will be forced to sign a contract in order to be illegible for the cash prizes... Will we need to sign a contract before the winners are chosen or will WN send an email after winners are picked because I do not wish to sign the famous slave contract of WN if its only for nomination or no prize t-t Can one of the admins answer this because I don't want to waste time writing if we must be contracted before since its a low chance of winning top3

Edit: The contract might not be that bad, it just seems bad based on all the periodic posts on it, for all ik
might jist be overworrying on nothing

A: Talked with the customer support thingy on here, didn't notice it on phone earlier, anyways for whoever was wondering you will be need to sign the contract before the deadline without knowing how much participants as (might be changed later but prob not) it is a blind competition. If judges think your novel is good enough they will offer a contract which you must sign (which will be offered couple weeks after). Content editor is not an editor btw, just like some1 who tells you some basic stuff about webnovel like for example difference between this and traditional books. There was some other minor stuff I asked, but anyways if any authors have any questions you should do the chat thing on here (idk if it shows on phone) as forums, email, and comment I tried is definitely not reliable as I waited basically a full day.

I kind of feel this is WN version of Wattpad's The Watty's.

It looks like they may want to sign up your novel if you win or rank. It doesn't seem you need to do so before winner announcements are made.

At least, that's what I understood.

As they say that the winners will be chosen based on commercial value, I assume the author should sign the contract before the final announcements. Those, who will have higher ranking, readers' involvement and more profit from premium chapters will be the winners.

Mochimoshu It wasn't there when I posted this since I think I made the post around when it was first released, I only noticed it from the phone app writing button where you check for contests, it showed on events with more details on prompts like an hour later though

Speaking of contract, could anybody tell me what exactly the content of the contract is? I did read many unpleasant comments about webnovel contract, but I never read the actual contract itself. Could anybody please show and explain the contract? I'm sure I'm not the only who is curious about it.

Tomoyuki "I want money but I don't want to sign a contract!" I think your more of a sis for not being able to do math lol, as long your writing isn't trash and you are actually serious more than the typical "I say I'm serious" authors (as mot honestly aren't...), you could make more than what the contract offers by selling it on amazon and stuff in the long run once you get it together, yeah you most likely won't get $200 for when you start... but signing a contract just for that much a month is stupid. Of the tenish authors friends and my parents friends that I know in real life, a majority of them are able to make a living from it, while (I'm assuming) most WN authors are not able to make a living from just their books on WN, though yeah you can make money. If your books good enough and you want up front money you might as well just go to a actual publisher as they at least offer 1k+ advances. Last I know of you lose all copyright and even if you don't sign it you will still gain 50% of the coins.

But online novel topics/themes are also usually different from whats traditionally sold, so even if you decide to publish something that did great on WN it might make barely anything on Amazon, especially if you have no fanbase. For example in America average income of 100 fiction authors is 100k, split that its 1k. However, its heavily skewed as one prob makes like 75k another 20k, another 4k, while the rest is split up while some may not even make anything. However even that is skewed... as it counts any fiction author who has went in to sell it for money, realistically most authors even though they say are serious are honestly that much... Like for example only make one book. Idk if you read rookie/unknown works on Amazon before but most are really garbage, kinda similar to WN in a way with originals as any1 can make it. Idk data about WN incomes, but I remember reading some forum posts couple months back that they weren't that much, at least for the average somewhat well off in rankings.

Though its circumstantial. For example if it's your first ever book with no fan base, might be a good option as you get money while you build one, or like unless you want a faster path to more fans cause of features and faster money, it's dumb to sign the WN Slave contract (at least base on what all you people put and I'm not going to explain...). Though yeah, if you are just doing it for a hobby, not serious enough, english second language, ok/bad writing/story, blablabla, than yeah, contract is definitely a good option. Like for me, I'd be okay with selling the copyright while still gaining the passive income and signing that contract if it was one of the top 3 because that's what most publishers would offer you too, except the revoking of copyright part. But I started reading a lot cause of NovelUpdates, WuxiaWorld, and WN so... I wouldn't mind trading it for that because I like comments unlike ebooks and held books

Also ty for link, I'll check it out now.

GreenZamrud search it up on forums, there's like hundreds of posts on that by now...
