So when I try to write the synopsis for my books I tend to be very wary of putting any spoilers in no matter how small they are. I keep it so vague that it doesn't really tell much about the story. That is probably because in my ongoing book the name of the MC and his goals aren't revealed until the later chapters.
What I want to know is, does a vague synopsis keep readers from picking up a book?

No. I tend to ignore vague summaries. For me, I tend to want to get an idea of what I'm in for.

Maybe it's like watching a movie trailer. We know what the protagonist wanted, so, right now we want to see him whether he succeed in achieving his goal or did he fail?

Just like the movie cats. We don't even know what the goal of all the cats. I don't even know what to expect aside from big artist turned into cats and stsrt singing.
