While surfing through the forums, I've noticed many talking about random things~ So I thought maybe I should start one myself!

The topic of this one is the title, Old habits die hard. What are things that you keep (or kept) on doing for a long time that were hard to stop, even if you did fix them afterwards?

Mine are:

  • I keep writing everything in passive voice, but then fix it to more active.
  • I tend to talk a lot and a lot when I get into things, only to realize after the fact that I'm not even answering the right thing or half could be erased because it means nothing. (Just like all my answers in the forums.)

AFoxImmortal I keep writing everything in passive voice, but then fix it to more active.

Nothing wrong with that if it suits the moment. I find passive voice is great for reflection and expression. Active for action, suspense and so forth.

Veronica8 Yeah, the problem was when it was getting repetitive, so I tried switching between the two depending on the situation.

AFoxImmortal I have a very strong connection to your second bullet point. Just earlier I was looking through my notifications and the author who I gave title suggestions to (they asked for it in the forums) said something along the lines of, 'Wow you guessed my book's plot just from the tags/synopsis'.

It wasn't a long rant, maybe, but I ended up writing so much. It went from title giving to me deeply deciphering the story/characters. (´ー∀ー`)

But other than that, they may not be old habits but things I'm trying to stop doing:

-Hoarding: I'm a hoarder for random things. You ever buy earbuds and it comes with extra little rubber bits to change them to fit your ear? Well, I have a TON on those. I went to a thrift store and bought 3 music boxes. One was a little globe but I don't know why I bought 3.

-Staying up all night: This, this has become an issue. I stayed up for about 30+ hours before passing out once. This quarantine has really messed up my sleep schedule. I need to fix it but it's hard. At night I don't really feel sleepy so I just end up doing random things. Typing chapters for books/ideas I might never publish, re-reading said chapters, drawing, etc.

-Coffee: I guess you could call it an old habit but before quarantine I drank a lot of coffee, almost everyday previously. Just recently I bought a lot of coffee because I thought, 'Why not?'. Then I moved onto that coffee trend nowadays. The one where you whip the coffee until it's fluffy-ish and mix it with heavy cream/milk/almond milk etc.

Just me things but, looking back at it, I've once again written too much. I'm a lazy person so I don't even want to go through and delete things. Here, take my brain barf of like, five minutes.

        a month later

Yuyumamoru At night I don't really feel sleepy so I just end up doing random things.

        I feel you.
This is probably my worse habit, I don't feel sleepy at all at night so it's always a issue for me. When I had to wake up early everyday for school or work, I could more or less sleep at night (never early tho) but on weekends my body would revolt and try to go back to not sleeping at night. Quarentine life messed me up even more now that I only work in the afternoons
